I went to kyra niki's tavern 9 years ago, and it was great! Niki was always tgere, very courteous, added a personal touch, great food, always packed, and I ate there often.
Unfortunately, that's changed now...
The decor is now crammed everywhere, and it's stuffy and too "packed" to the eyes to be of any aesthetic value. It just looks like someone hoarded old stuff in the kitchen.
The food, still good I guess, but nothing too crazy. Worth a bite.
But they now book groups of people who xome by bus, and so it's either going to be empty, or super packed. So you risk it being WAY too busy, in which case it's super noisy, not enjoyable at all, dark (not much lighting) and kinda half-a**ed. Looks like they're just trying to make it bearable, and passable-traditional, for the summer months and to attract tourists who might think "there's old stuff on tge wall, so they must know what they're doing".
Unfortunately, it looks like Niki turned it to a tourist-trap for school-kids and large groups of people. (Pre-booked by a commission-based travel agent)
Also, Niki wasn't there, so no more personal touch.
For me, it was a 2* this time. When it used to be a 5*.
It looks like they cashed in on a moneymaker and now are running it on autopilot....
Read moreMy wife and I (Both with Greek background) have been in Santorini for a week now and have been struggling to find some authentic Greek restaurant food that doesn’t break the bank. I read a few reviews about Kira Niki and I thought let’s try it out. Tonight we ordered a delivery from Kira Niki Tavern and we were both transported back to our grandmothers house enjoying a family cooked amazing meal.
The Baked feta was outstanding, tasting of fresh ingredients and amazing quality. Then came the Mousaka, stuffed burger (bifteki) and the pork souvlaki and honestly it was exactly (if not better) than a home cooked meal from our own family.
I am so happy and honoured to have enjoyed such an amazing meal that was obviously cooked with so much love and passion that it tasted like we were back home with our families! We will be back to this restaurant every single time we return to Santorini
Yummm x 1 million, if you want honest, authentic, well priced food, don’t even hesitate, this is the only...
Read moreWalked from our villa to the supermarket and stopped by here on the way back to pick up food for dinner. We were directed to a table inside for dinner. Handed a QR Code and told to scan it for the menu. Over the next 15 minutes, a family and couple came in and were seated. Then we were asked if we would like water. I asked about takeaway as we were ordering for family who were at the villa waiting. The family and couples orders were taken, and they were served before the waiter returned to see if we were ready to order. Any other time I would have left, but they offered soup which is what we were looking for as friends mother wasn't feeling well. He finally came over and took our order and let us know when everything was ready. All in all, our experience wasn't the best and honestly they didn't...
