Mataroa Santorini — Restaurant in Municipality of Thira

We absolutely loved this place! Our flight was delayed by 2 hours so we checked into our accommodation at half past 11 but saw that this place next door to us still looked open so we popped in to see if they were still serving food. Inside we found the nicest atmosphere and people that were so happy to help us and quickly sat us down in a beautiful spot with a blanket for the wife as it was late and a bit chilly. The owner introduced himself and was so nice, he spoke about his family that owned a winary and after we ordered a few beers he gave us a free shot of something that they drink a lot of and its made during the wine making process. We ordered food and it didn't take long for it to be made, it was presented beautifully and tasted great, they stayed open for longer so we could finish and then even let us get a few more beers when we finished our food. When we come back to Santorini I will be staying in cultural house in pyrgos and I will visit this gorgeous restaurant next door...

We had a lovely late morning breakfast here consisting of yogurt with granola and honey as well as an egg and feta and tomato omelet. We were served by John who was very attentive and made sure we were well taken care of during our entire meal, often looking over to check if we were alright and rushing if something small was amiss, such as an empty water bottle falling over in the breeze. We were visiting Pyrgos and stopped for lunch. The place is nice, with a terrace from where you have a view. The staff is friendly and the service was pretty fast. My octopus was burnt, but the fava was great. The pancetta was melting in the mouth. The chicken burger was made of chicken leg - not the best burger. The orange juice was ok, the pinneaple juice great. The coffe not goot at all, very bitter. The milkshake had no taste. So for what I didn’t like I cut out a star.
