Katerina and her husband run this clean and classy restaurant on the other side of the Santorini cliff-side views where many tourists might prefer to go for the sunset views. But once you’ve had a taste of their food, their sincere, warm hospitality and experienced the equally pretty - even if different - and serene view of the little island town, you’ll want to return. My family did. We had our first dinner at Osmo and we dropped by again on our last night. Over the two evenings, we tried the Saganaki Prawns - fresh and piquant in the well-seasoned tomato-based gravy with feta - served with warm, crispy-on-the-outside pita, grilled Dorado fish (Sotiri helped my hubby cut up the fish and removed the bones with care and patience), the crispy grilled salmon with rice, succulent chicken souvlaki, chicken pasta in a wine infused cream sauce, crispy calamari and pasta bolognese. We also tried the baklava with ice cream - so light, flaky, nutty and good. All said and done, it’s really the vibe here that contributed to a very amazing first trip to Santorini for our family. Cosy, good value for money (versus the restaurants in Fira Town Centre and also on the caldera-facing side of the cliffs, delicious, nice portions (as opposed to overwhelming) and most of all - friendly! Thank you Katerina and Soteris who welcomed us so kindly and affably and who were especially warm to the kids! Will remember you whenever we talk about Santorini! Aντίο και...
Read moreWhat started as a friendly welcome quickly turned sour and probably one of my worst experiences in a restaurant. We waited almost 1 hour without even an appetizer appearing from the kitchen. When politely querying the delay, the owner was dismissive and rude stating the food is cooked fresh and would be served altogether within 5 mins. However, it took 90 mins for all food to arrive and they came one by one so we couldn't enjoy our meals together. When I said we wanted to eat together she just shrugged her shoulders and walked away! Despite the wait, the food was inedible and low quality and the wine was spoiled. When we stated we were unsatisfied with the service she became aggressive. There were only three other tables occupied so there was no excuse for the lengthy wait however even if she was even a little apologetic we would have had more patience but she was incredibly arrogant. The fact she quickly offered a discount suggests this happens frequently. Do yourself a favour and don't bother with this Fawlty Towers like experience. There are countless quality...
Read moreAn absolutely wonderful meal and all round experience on our first night on Santorini. The caldera view restaurants were so busy, and I'm glad, because it meant we ended up at Osmo. Only 2 mins walk away from the main drag.
The food was wonderful, extremely fresh and so tasty. We had a lightly spiced feta "mouse / paste" which is far more appetizing than it sounds, and some lightly fried aubergine and courgette in the lightest tempura style batter ever. Mains were the salmon and dorada fish. Unbelievably fresh, simple and tasty.
The manager was obviously passionate about her food, and was happy to talk to us about it, and was also very welcoming.
The biggest surprise was the cost, which was more than reasonable, even with drinks.
This restaurant deserves to be full every night, and I strongly recommend you take yourself away from the amazing views for an hour or so, to eat here.
We didn't tell them this, but it was the first night of our honeymoon....so a big thank you for making it even more...
