Our trip to Santorini had a lot of surprises for us but the biggest and probably one of the best ones was this amazing taverna located very close to our hotel. Managed by extremely warm and welcoming staff, this place defines the hospitality of Greece. It is not lavish or modernized to comply by the social media standards. The authentic and humble decor makes it inviting and unmissable. Everything about this taverna calls out breezy.
We ordered the CHICKEN SOUVLAKI and STUFFED PEPPERS and both the dishes were lip smacking. The chicken in the souvlaki was juicy and tender and the large lime wedges really helped the cause further. The fries kept on the sides were adding equally to this dish, so there was no element on the plate that could be ignored. The pepper dish is usually served with 1 stuffed pepper and 1 stuffed tomato but they had run out of the latter so gave us 2 peppers only. The stuffed rice was really well cooked and had a very rich flavor. The feta cheese blocks and cucumber slices added the much needed freshness to the dish.
If you're in Imerovigli locality, then Tasos Tavern should definitely be visited for a...
Read moreNot sure what people are raving about - have you never eaten seafood before?! One small to medium fish was $20 euros! I would never call this affordable or reasonably priced! I saw restaurants along the shore in Kamari, a very nice beach, for $14 and $18, so $20 for such a desolate location is ridiculous. It had good taste, but was barely enough for one person. Three slices of fried tomatoes were $6 euros! Didn't even add up to one tomato. They charge .80 euros per person for bread; why can't they just charge per basket of bread? The octopus is $34 euros per kilo and had no flavor, just rubbery octopus. The salad portion that comes with it is super sskimpy. We were still hungry when we left. If you go, lower your expectations and prepare your wallet. They don't take any...
Read moreWe ate here on our first evening in Santorini as we were staying in an apartment not far away and had read the reviews for Tasos in advance of our holiday. We enjoyed it so much that we returned time and time again during our 14-day holiday, with me working through the traditional Greek choices on the menu while my wife had her favourites that she kept returning to - particularly the superb home-cut, properly cooked chips! The owner did most of the serving and was always welcoming and helpful and we felt genuinely welcomed as returning customers every time we visited. The half-carafes of wine (no choice other than white, rosé or red!) were good value and perfectly easy-drinking. If you’re in the area, we really recommend trying Tasos...
