To Kyma — Restaurant in Region of Crete

I have never experienced anything like this in my entire life!

We chose this restaurant completely by chance because it had a nice view. As soon as we sat down, the Bulgarian waiter told my girlfriend that she was way too tattooed. At this point, I wonder if it’s normal for people to be judged in a restaurant?

Our biggest mistake was not leaving right after that comment and instead ordering food. The waiter (still the same one) bombarded us with questions about where we were from, what we were doing here, etc. On top of that, he had to mention again that he could never have tattoos himself. When we finally got our food, the waiter stood next to us and kept talking instead of letting us eat in peace. In between came unbelievably rude remarks like, “Are you two just friends? Or husband and wife?” even though we were clearly two women.

After all this, we ate very uncomfortably and didn’t have a single moment of peace from this waiter. When we paid, of course we did not leave a tip, and then came the question of why we hadn’t left one. We made it very clear how rude he had been, to which he just kept insisting that he was being nice.

This was pure harassment. Why such restaurants are even allowed to operate on such a beautiful island is beyond me!

So my advice: DO....

After a long trip to Iraklion with a lot of misunderstadings and miscommunications, because the people at the busstation are too lazy to study the English language we plopped down in this restaurant. At first the waiter was very amicable, maybe a bit too much. When the menu was shown, I saw a draft beer that I wanted to give a try. When ordered, he said that this specific beer wasn't available anymore with a very intruiging look on his face. He suggested Mythos, which I had already much too often. Anyway, I ordered a Mythos, because there were no alternatives.

After the drinks were ordered, we both ordered a pizza. The pizza was okay, nothing special. After a while we finished our pizza and wanted to pay. My girlfriend was paying this time. When she came back, she said that the waiter was forcing her to give him a tip, the man was poiting with his finger at the reciept and said "service not included" repeatedly for around 2 minutes. He also offended her by saying "Have you never been to a restaurant?". A very misogynistic man. NEVER GO TO THIS...

We randomly chose this restaurant because we wanted to have a meal with a nice view of the bay. Unfortunately, our waiter from Bulgaria seemed to really enjoy discussing various topics when we weren’t in the mood for that. He also expressed surprise, both verbally and through his facial expressions, about some of our dish choices. Once again, his opinion wasn’t important to us when ordering, but such reactions were unpleasant. The fish was delicious, and the pasta was good too, but the waiter spoiled the overall experience. Because of that, we wouldn’t want to come back...
