Very Disappointing. Rude Treatment and Poor Handling of Booking
We were really looking forward to dining here on our final night in Skiathos. We had booked the restaurant weeks in advance after reading glowing reviews and were excited to end our trip on a high note. I even followed them on Instagram and kept up with their stories because I was genuinely excited to try it. Sadly, we never got to try the food or experience the atmosphere…
Earlier in the day, around 2pm, we realised we were running a bit behind schedule after a day out. Rather than rush, we noticed a later time slot (21:30) was still available online, so we rescheduled our original 19:00 booking to that time. We received a confirmation email (attached) and thought everything was sorted.
However, around 8pm, we received a phone call from the restaurant. We were abruptly told “do not come here”, blamed for “missing” our earlier booking, and informed that they would not accommodate us at 21:30. I explained that we had rescheduled through their online system and had a confirmation email with the updated details, but they denied the new booking entirely and refused to discuss it further. The tone of the call was rude and dismissive. I can only assume they had overbooked and decided to shift the blame onto us.
We were left disappointed and without a dinner reservation on our last night. If we had known this would be an issue, we would have just stuck to our original time slot.
I can only hope this was a one off, but this level of customer service was completely unexpected and frankly unacceptable from a restaurant with such...
Read moreWords won't give any justice to just how incredible this place is!! The restaurant is perched on the southern tip of the old town. It's an open-air terrazza, with tables on three stepped levels overlooking the sea. The atmosphere is immaculate, with soft intimate lighting, beautiful combinations of decor and tastefully selected and unobtrusive Greek music. The staff are incredibly attentive and welcoming - just like the rest of the locals after all. And the food... THE FOOD! It's a perfectly sized menu with a selection of interesting dishes combining tradition and creativity, both meat and fish and a great selection of Greek wines. The descriptions are enticing and then the real thing is 10 times better. Just incredible tastes and top quality ingredients. I've dreamt of the fava beans purée starter after going back home. Prices are in line with every other restaurant on the island and dare I say way way too reasonable for the quality. You can just tell that every element of this restaurant has been carefully thought about and there is a strong vision for the type of experience they want to deliver. They have only been open for a month so you have to be quick getting in early on this. I think there is zero chance this place is not going to become extremely popular and getting a table is going to get harder and harder. I wouldn't be surprised if you'd find Plakes listed in the Michelin guide within the next 12 months! Hands down one of the greatest meals...
Read moreI visited this new restaurant yesterday. The first thing that catches your eye is the amazing decoration and view of the restaurant. Carefully designed to enhance your view of this beautiful place. The restaurant offers greek dishes with a modern aesthetic. We tried several of the dishes on the menu as we were a lot of people and they were all delicious. My personal favorite is the “chorta” which in greek are wild green leaves boiled but Plakes offer them in a lightly grilled option which is fantastic. Great choices also are the smooth mayo texture like taramosalata, the tasty zucchini with nuts, the aubergine salad as starters. I tasted all the main course we ordered. The achinos pasta was perfectly cooked al dente and was light and lemony as it should be. A must try too the rooster pasta a greek dish which Plakes have included in their menu and unlike the traditional dish that is usually very heavy in taste this is light and easy to eat. They have also added a traditional desert in their menu, Aspro. An almond paste that Skiathos is very well known for. The owners and stuff are very friendly and eager to serve and offer you a great experience. I highly recommend this new addition to the Skiathos...
