It’s funny how lazy tourists can be. Il Migliore is at the Old Harbour end and not even five minutes from the busy side of the harbour or Papadiamanti, the “high street” of Skiathos, and yet it is significantly less busy than other restaurants. There is no shortage of Italian food in Skiathos town but the quality here is very good. We ended up here as we could not book a table elsewhere for 8:30 but we did not regret it.
We had Carpaccio do Polpo and Burrata as starters. The former was excellent, the latter unusual (it was served on Quinoa) and unfortunately not runny inside at all, closer to a big ball of mozzarella (see photo).
Our mains were Taliagta Di Manzo (excellent), spaghetti pomodori (al dente), scallopine al lemone (excellent) and a pizza I can’t remember. All four of us were happy. Wine selection is (as in many restaurants) limited if you want to order by the glass. Service was great until about 9pm when the restaurant suddenly filled up and attention of the waiters withered a bit. Unfortunately the four mains were served in succession and it would have been impossible to wait for the last dish and still eat the first one hot.
Once we were finished with the mains somebody at another table seemingly asked for a fan on the wall to be moved which made our table very droughty and two people in our family uncomfortable, so we skipped desert.
Prices were reasonable and we...
Read moreFood 🍝: The food at this restaurant was exceptional. The pizza was made with a proper Neapolitan crust and good quality tomato sauce and mozzarella. The pollo y funghi pasta was made with excellent fresh fettuccine and the sauce was incredibly tasty. Some of the best Italian food we’ve had!
Value 💰: 10/10 for value. The restaurant is really elegant and because the food is so good you would assume the prices would be high. But it’s really reasonable for what you get €12.50 for a margarita and €15 for a chicken mushroom truffle pasta. Other Italian restaurants in town are more expensive for a much lower standard of food. Additionally it’s the kind of restaurant you wouldn’t expect to serve cheap house/barrel wine but it does - and at 8 euros for 500ml it was really good value. Cover charge was slightly pricey at €2.5 if I was nitpicking!
Service 🍽️: the service was fantastic, the staff were so nice and extremely attentive. Couldn’t have asked for anything more
Atmosphere 🕯️: Quite modern with nice warm lighting. Really elegant vibe overall and busy so it was very atmospheric. A great view over the harbour too and not too loud.
Overall ⭐️: I couldn’t rate this restaurant more highly. For a great Italian in skiathos I would look no further. Huge credit to the owner...
Read moreFor those who enjoy traditional Italian food, this is the place for you. Beautifully prepared food, great service and a relaxed atmosphere overlooking the old port of Skiathos. The only (minor) downside in my opinion, is that their version of Tiramisu is not how Tiramisu should be. The taste was great but the overall consistency was like eating brandy flavoured yoghurt. That said, the tiramisu was not enough to put my review at 4 stars as the rest - including the price - was fabulous. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
PS. Please note that my dinner companions tucked into the food before I could take some photos so the resultant pictures are not representative of how the dishes were presented 10...
