Arrived back from this resort late last night after one week at the Athena Studios. Overall we had a lovely time although experienced the high temperatures and humidity. We were a party of four and had two studios 6 and 7. We arrived around 9.00pm 26th July and was shown to our studios and told there would be a charge for the air conditioning for the week (7 days). 42 euros. Beware when you vacate at midday the air conditioning goes off in the morning. The air conditioning in number 6 was extremely in effective. When reported we were told it was ok. So had to put up with it being very hot. The fridge is under a stainless steel hob and is like a heater during the day. The flank wall absorbs the heat during the afternoon and the curtains to the balcony doors are very thin and the sun shines through to make the room even hotter. Our room in the evening and during the night never fell below 26c. (We bought a thermometer). Greek self catering is non existent so don't go thinking you can cook. The Studios are managed by Mother, daughter and son in law who are unwelcoming. They reminded me of the Addams Family without the humour. Not at all like the genuine Greeks people. So avoid Studio number 6...
Read moreMixed feelings about this place. The island itself is beautiful and the resort is not too busy with a good choice of tavernas and bars. ||The studios are set back from the main strip which makes them peaceful and not much traffic. The apartments are clean but not well stocked at all with cutlery or plates etc. and the cutlery drawer was full of crumbs which needed cleaning. ||The main issue is how upright the owners are. It’s family run, but you feel as if you are being constantly watched so you can be ‘told off’ for breaking rules. If you eat so much as a sweet by the pool, you get told off by a family member who appears from nowhere. The pool closes at 7 and they descend on the hour on the dot, tapping your sunbed as they need to ‘dry the mattresses. ‘ If they are cleaning your room, they insist you wait outside and will make a huge fuss over towels they can’t locate. Many trips to Greece have never been like this- they’re unfriendly and uptight which isn’t relaxing on a holiday. Apart from that, Argassi is a lovely place if you are realistic...
Read morePictures of the room online where not the same as the room we where put in, I am unsure if there was an over booking as the person who showed us to our room apologised but never said anything else to us. The room was unclean with marks all over the walls from squashed bugs etc. During our two week stay one of the beds in our room was not changed at all. The other bed was changed every 3 days, similarly with towels and toilet roll, to which we ended up buying our own as there was a distinct impression that some people working at the hotel didn't have a clue what they where doing most of the time. The added annoyance was that we where constantly getting charged different prices for items we where buying at the hotel (think this was more the staff not having a clue how much anything was each time we went up to buy anything). As well as this the bar at the hotel was rarely open when we where going out for dinner which was unusual. Over all I wouldn't come back to this hotel, but would come back to...
