In my ongoing pursuit to find and indulge in local and authentic eateries, I found it refreshing to stumble across this establishment whilst searching the local area.
I appreciated that the café is situated a few mins walk away from the more 'lively' places in the town of Tsilivi (even though the area is already significantly quieter being at the tail end of the peak season). The premises is a humble little rustic place with soft lighting and subdued music playing in the background.
We were met by the owners and promptly seated - it was also a night I had fancied some Meze and with a quick scan of the menu, had settled for 'Bouyourdi, Fava, Courgette balls and Spetsofai' with leftover sauces mopped up by a small portion of bread. All the food was served in a timely manner, fresh and piping hot.
The portion sizes - cumulatively - were reasonable and perfect for two. It was fun and refreshing to hop around the different plates for a change and had found the food to be flavourful and not heavy. My personal favourite out of all the dishes was the bouyourdi - a light mix of veggies in a spicy sauce quenched by the cheese that tops the dish!
It was a relaxed meal in an equally relaxed area and venue and thoroughly appreciate the owners letting me practice my Greek. They were kind enough to give us a palette cleanser of yoghurt with berries and admired the wit and banter of the lady owner. :)
To summarise - if you're after a more grounded meal and experience at a reasonable cost, do not pass off Café...
Read moreMe and my wife was walking past at the time just after 7.30pm 24/7/25. There was a couple of cats outside there café not even inside of the steps of this cafe when a man decided to jump out of his chair outside the cafe door area to kick one of the cats off the pathway into the road. I understand they see cats and dogs different to Brits and we are in there country as visitors but there is no need to harm animals for there fun. My wife did try go to the cat but it run off understandably. I went to him but he was with two other males sitting and smoking at the tables just laughed at us when said what are you doing? They then started making meow noises at us the idiots so had to walk away as much as I would have loved to give him a real chat. They are probably just locals and nothing to do with the staff I hope reading the other reviews but I went back the next morning to get the name of the cafe to write this. Staff can't help what others do but I hope reading this the owners or manager take the appropriate action if they know who these are or what's happening while there not there but there doors was open for business incase you think there just sitting there...
