We visited almost ten restaurants in Zante and the food here was easily the best, so this is a difficult review to leave as we actually returned because the food was sublime. One our first visit we were welcomed by a friendly and courteous lady who took our orders, we had a fantastic meal we ordered starters of garlic bread and two portions of calamari between three of us,which were just fabulous the best ive ever had, generous portions too. the next time we returned we decided that as the calamari was so good we would order one each, so we ordered three starters of calamari. when it arrived it was still delicious but our portions had shrunk dramatically, we actually had a lot less in three portions than we had previously had in two. I mentioned this to the waiter a guy in his forties, and his first reaction was a firm, NO its the same. He walked over to the chef and when he returned he said, yes you are right the chef used up the last of the calamari. He added that the chef had embarrassed him by doing this. he said he would charge us just for two. however His attitude changed after this he was just very aloof and certainly not friendly we were made to feel very uncomfortable, yet the chef who i later learned is the owner had charged us for three dishes and served us less than two. but we were made to feel uncomfortable.which i find bizarre. When i came to ask the waiter for the bill, he simply gestured in an unpleasant manor to the young girl who he appeared to be venting his apparent anger and embarrassment on. What food we had was delicious so much so we decided a few days later to return, The older lady took our order she was faultless in her professionalism and genuinely warm and friendly, however after that we were waited on by a very young guy, we ordered three things from him and he managed to get two of them wrong, probably had something to do with him not writing the order down although i visibly showed him the item off the menu, i asked for a bottle of wine and got a glass and apple pie and ended up with an orange pie. after we had finished our main meal he simply vanished, normally as soon as you finish a meal you are pounced upon for a desert. at this point i said sarcastically maybe hes rushed off his feet, their were two others in the whole restaurant. He certainly didn't seem interested in selling the place. such a shame that such a potentially wonderful restaurant let down by service. the owner should have been honest with us rather than greedy, and that rude waiter sulking was quite frankly ridiculous. maybe family are employed, thats all...
Read moreGreat breakfast, service not so much.
In this area you have Relax and Fidelio opposite each other. We opted for relax and it was very busy but so was the other.
We were informed it would be slow as they seemed very understaffed. In the time it took our order to be taken someone across the street had gone in sat down and were tucking into their breakfast already. The waiter got our order wrong even though we had queried it and it was quite clear. Anyway we are speaking our first language and he is not so mistakes happen occasionally. They took it away and brought the correct item out. What was disappointing was the manner of which it was settled, it felt like we were being blamed. Clearly understaffed leaving the one worker very stressed. The food made up for this and the delay massively Granola pancake stack and American breakfast which was great value for money.
I can also recommend their evening meals having gone many times in the past. The food quality makes it really difficult not to give a 5 star and I hate not giving 5 stars. Please get more staff or just do what the name of your restaurant does and...
Read moreJust want to give a big recommendation to the Relax Bar/restaurant. We are staying in Kalamaki but visited Alykes today for a few hours. There were 9 of us and we picked Relax for breakfast 🥞 and so glad we did. The American breakfast was amazing and my hubby said the English breakfast was the best he’s tried abroad for years. So if you’ve not been yet please give it a try! — feeling full at Relax...
