Taverna Dionisos — Restaurant in Zakynthos Municipality

Visited this place again this year, hoping that things would have improved since last year's disappointing experience with the food and service. Unfortunately, it has actually gotten worse. For my starter, I ordered mussels with extra chilli, but when it arrived, there were no chillies. I asked the waitress for them, and she returned five minutes later with chilli sauce instead of cut red chillies or chilli flakes. I decided to let it go and continue with my meal. The mussels turned out to be terrible, like they were soaked in a sauce that tasted like dishwater.

To make matters worse, I never felt so rushed in all our time on the island. It was clear that the chef wanted to spend more time outside rather than in the kitchen. The service was terrible and the staff seemed disorganised.

Along with that, I had ordered pork ribs, but what I received was fatty steaks instead. I asked the waiter to check with the chef because I was sure it wasn't pork ribs. The chef insisted that it was ribs, but I disagreed. In the end, I paid £65 for a meal that was far from satisfactory. I definitely won't be giving this place...

Went with hubby for our monthly meal date..well what can I say ..ordered courgette fritters (can't go wrong there) what I got was a dough ball the size of a golf ball burnt and crusty..not a sign of a courgette..ate one mouth full and spat it back out ..gross..(Im sure I saw the 2 that went back on the plate of a lady on the next table !!) When asked what was wrong told him they were inedible and gross..no response...hubby had mushrooms ala creme...looked like tin mushrooms with garlic sauce tipped over them...main I had stuffed calamari ...stuffed with what I don't know ,.no peppers just a mush of white soggy cheese and enough liquid to drown the quid if it wasn't already dead..chewy chewy chewy..hubby had some meat dish burnt around the edges (to long in the microwave maybe)..never came to see if we wanted any more drinks...all I can say is stay clear ..rip off prices (60e+) this is the worst place I have ever eaten on zakynthos (and I live here) substandard food and tatty / tired decor..looks ok till you get up close...what more...

We were greatly looking forward to spending an evening here having enjoyed views of its picturesque setting as we walked past it several times. On the night we chose to dine there we were seated on a table which was barely big enough for the four of us, but we settled down with a drink and placed our food order. Half an hour later our side order of garlic bread arrived. After another thirty minutes there was no sign of our main course and, even worse, no apology or any form of communication from the numerous staff. We asked them to investigate which they did, again without meaningful apology, and eventually the food arrived, about 75 minutes after we had ordered it. It was offered in a grudging manner as if we were being mistreated for daring to criticise them, and the whole experience was unpleasant and unworthy of the beautiful location. The other five restaurants and bars we had previously visited all made us feel special but this one was sadly lacking in any measure of...
