In short, one of the best dining experiences I had while visiting Guatemala!
I stumbled upon Metiz Bistro while solo browsing Fontebella. What initially caught my eye about the restaurant was the decor. It is a beautiful, softly lit, well-thought-out, intimate space tucked into the plaza. When you walk in, you are immediately and kindly greeted by the service team, who are attentive and friendly throughout the entire experience. The staff graciously escorts you to your seat, which is arranged where each table has enough privacy, though you still feel as if you are dining in the company of others with great taste.
Shortly after seating, the Chef came out to personally greet me and recommend some items on the menu that might interest me. I had the Seabass, and when I say I still think about the meal from time to time weeks later, I am not exaggerating--it was amazing!
My experience is not isolated to this one time. Less than 48 hours later, I returned to try yet another item off the menu, a char-broiled trout, also delicious. This time not only did I experience the same hospitality as my initial visit, but the owner, Julian, also personally came to my table and welcomed me to the establishment and overall Guatemala. We even shared a glass of wine and had a great conversation; It truly felt like I wasn't just eating at a fine establishment but almost like I was home, which says something considering I was visiting from another country.
I can't recommend this place higher enough. If you have a moment and want to enjoy great food in a beautiful location with excellent service and people, check out Metiz Bistro!

Read moreWe got the brunch set that includes savory and sweet dish (free coffee and a juice of choice: orange or passionfruit). Huevos mollet and croque monsieur were great. The french toast and crepes were a bit too sweet for me. There was nothing special about the sweet dish. But overall we enjoyed...
