Restaurante Hana — Restaurant in Panajachel

First of all, i don't usually leave reviews. If I do, it's either super good or the other extreme. So here it is. I wanted something japanese and I ordered sushi combo and sashimi. Sashimi was not fresh at all. It was sliced way thin and the texture had me worried because it felt like it was defrosted. I can't tell for sure if it was really defrosted but it got me worried. Sushi combo. The only sushi was two tiny cooked shrimp sushi which I don't necessarily even count as sushi. The rest of bento boxes were 'rolls' but nothing in that bento box tasted good. Panajachel obviously is not 'the place' for sushi and since I didn't try their ramen or other menu i can't comment on that side of menu but when it comes to sushi, it was not only disappointing but concerning. AVOID!!! HORRIBLE experience here. This was the ONLY negative experience I had on my entire Guatemala vacation. There's zero service. We were completely invisible. Stood around at the entrance and no one payed attention to us. Had to "interrupt" a waiter and ask to be seated. Then we ordered. Then we sat around for 50 minutes and no food ever came out. The tables around us everyone was done eating. We never saw our waiter again the entire 50 minutes we were seated tucked in a corner. They never checked on us, we were completely ignored. So we just left. Terrible waste of precious vacation time and sadly the only bad part of my visit this country. Hana is the absolute absolute WORST. Really sucks that a near perfect vacation got spoiled by this...

It was horrible place for Japanese dinner. I ordered chicken rice dish with tempura as an appetizer. They brought out two miso soups right away, even without the two dishes. Chicken rice wasn't done right. Rice was soaked with liquid and the chicken weren't even cooked property. They were supposed to bring the tempura first as an appetizer, but after finishing the main rice dish, after 30 minutes of waiting, the tempura still didn't come. Finally I told them that I don't want it anymore. The owner said that the kitchen prep for oil wasn't ready. They should have told me before if they weren't even ready to serve. Messed up my entire dinner experience and the only thing worth while was a bottle of water that I ordered. Never go...
