This is a charming little open air place with very limited capacity, so I recommend reservations. I didn't have a booking my first night and was turned away. I made a reservation and went back the next night. Really enjoyed the meal but I will offer a few observations: I loved the format and really wanted to give five stars but couldn't quite stretch that far. No alcohol; the only beverages are Coke, ginger ale and water. It isn't cheap for what you get but portions are sizable. Sometimes they run out of ingredients that are purchased fresh on a day-by-day basis. On my first night a large section of the menu was unavailable and they were out of shrimp cocktail makings. I substituted a half order of coconut shrimp, which were good but nothing like coconut shrimp I've had elsewhere around the world. No crispy coating and no taste of coconut that I could detect. It just seemed like shrimp that had been dredged in a bit of flour and fried. Next, they ran out of chicken. Luckily I had placed my order before that happened - but they messed it up and gave me curry when I had ordered fried chicken! Since they had run out of chicken at that point there was no way I could send it back and get the dish I preferred. The curry was decent but not what I wanted and not spectacular.
Bottom line, I enjoyed Loretta's and would go again, but be prepared to roll with...
Read moreThis rating is for their breakfast. I thought it was OK breakfast but price too high for what I got. I got the American Hash Browns Meal $10 that the menu says has hash browns, bacon, beans and eggs. (See if of menu). I want to support local businesses like this and I think they could improve.
I received plate with no beans although the menu says it includes it. When I asked about it they said the menu was wrong and it doesn't have beans. Would have been nice to know that before so I know what I am ordering for the price. I'm just following the menu. (See pic of my menu)
So ok, I decide to add an order of beans then since I wanted it and I paid $2 extra and it was a super small amount. And it was like 2 spoon fulls! In Roatan, beans are pretty cheap so I was a little shocked at this.
So a breakfast for the amount $14 after coffee, you can get a lot more for that in Roatan west end restaurants and thought this...
Read moreIf you are looking for local Honduran flavors, one of the recommendations (they said), would be to visit Lorettas’s. It is at West End. A small open air eatery that is popular with the locals and tourists. There are about 5 well appointed tables. The menu is basic but can satisfy the hungry. I ordered the grilled fish (snapper I later learned), in their special spiced recipe. The fish seemed pan fried and tasted exactly like a cajun spice. It was succulent and flaky. Very fresh, because I even questioned if it was not Tilapia because it was falling apart. The kidney beans, lacked a unique flavor. They were sweet and reminded me of the canned stuff you get in the States. It took about 30 minutes to get the food out. That is not a problem. They had numerous carry outs. The service was indifferent. Customer service is a department they...
