Good Stay At Mr Tucan Reviewed Jan 23, 2025 We stayed ten nights at Mr Tucan over Christmas. The hotel has a great location in West End right across the street from the beach at Half Moon Bay. Check in was easy...a porter helped with the luggage. Rooms are very nice by Roatan standards. Our room was very clean. Housekeeping came each day. Breakfast was included at the Crazy Bean...attached to the hotel. We tried each of the different options...they were all good. We like the baleadas...when in Honduras. The upstairs patio was a great place to hang out and relax. Towels and chairs are available for use at the beach. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The property was secure and had security on site. We felt very safe day and night. A good stay at Mr. Tucan...we highly recommend and would consider staying again. December 2024 Traveled as a couple

Despite being rated as a 2 star hotel I found myself in a great place. I stayed for a week while scuba diving and got all the service I needed. Clean room (in fact I had my in cabin in the back) friendly and accommodating staff and breakfast was included in their Crazy Beans Cafe which roasted their coffee beans on site. There are only two things that I would consider a point of possible concern. The included breakfast is fine if you are not starving. Choice of coffee or juice and a set number of choices for food. The other thing to know is that on Friday and Saturday night you will hear some of the music in the places nearby. Never stopped me from sleeping but if you are sensitive to that, keep it in mind.

Affordable, clean rooms, with A/C, hot water, comfortable beds, seems recently built, friendly staff too. Good location in West End, beachfront, walking distance from restaurants and nightlife, lots of cabs around in case you want to make a trip to other beaches/towns. Public transportation passes by too, Route #2, West End-Sandy Bay-Coxen Hole. The building is shared with an excellent coffee shop, Bean Crazy; also with a Gift Shop and a Duty Free Shop. Props to Jean and Wendy for their friendliness, and Fanny (loved your food <3). If I were to return to West End, I would most likely stay there again. Recommended.

We landed in Roatan, previous to the trip we had set up a driver to the hotel via email. We went early May. Some how that week we missed the smoke that was billowing in from the mainland. River gave us a small history of the island and places to go. We arrived at the hotel, I thought it was cute. Main dr of west end , was fairly busy . But nothing outlandish. Once you cross the street to the beach , all of it melts away.

Mr Tican it self is an adorable lil place , our room was cool, with a queen size bed . Comfortable enough for sleep and as we were barely in our room it was fine. Linens were clean, bathroom was good. Took a minute to get the hor water but it came. The veranda that all the rooms are on overlooks the street and is great for people watching and drinks.

We walked the main drag from end to end a couple of times, noting restaurants and places wed like to check out. Make sure to say hi to people as you will see many of them again and again.

The hotel offers an island siteseeing tour w/ Cynthia. You my god , what a great day that was. Cynthia is a true mvp there. She took us thu Keyhole , To Coxen Hole, French Harbor, Punta Gorda and the Oakridge area for a late lunch. That day we saw monkeys , sloth, macaws, did I mention sloths! We saw quality native African dancing, we sat in the cutest lil bar on water. I just pictured Ernest Hemingway walking up . Truly a wonderful day.

They also supplied mask and fins for snorkeling. Hey guess what!? Literally, straight out the door and swim west boom a ton of sea life and snorkeling spots. Look for the sunken submarine. It's near the swinging ship.

Mr Tucan was the perfect base for all of our trips too. Centrally located and just a short walk to the water taxis...

Mr Tucan is a fantastic location and well-cared-for accommodation. All the staff are helpful and friendly. Our room was spacious, well-equipped, always clean, and had an amazing beach/sunset view (and fully air conditioned). They are really focused on giving you a great experience. A couple quick examples: We had scooters for a few days and the security guard was always ready and happy to help open the back parking yard gate when we arrived after 8pm - he watched for us, was always friendly, and always quick to help. Also, they are always improving the property - we saw them installing solar panels and regularly repainting (even in areas that, by comparison to other hotels, were not bad at all) to keep the look fresh and clean. I stayed at a ‘luxury’ air bnb in January. My stay at Mr Tucan this July was a far better experience. Their attentiveness far outweighs any fancy architecture. Even so, the layout of Mr Tucan is also interesting. They make great use of the space. Easy access to their restaurant (breakfast was included). Washrooms and shower available on the main level to help when you are using the beach. And, you are right there by the beach. Easy access to all the great West End dive centres, shops and restaurants. The hotel is directly across from water taxis to West Bay or Sandy Beach. Plenty of other transportation options for the other island adventures. I highly...

I stayed at the coastal charm property owned by Mr. Tucan. I felt incredibly unsafe. There is a long narrow path that is very dark at night. Lights have come on but often not. They never came on the last night. I know this because I was up all night due to the smoke alarm going off. I nearly tripped but I was also concerned about safety in general. The light on my phone helped but not a lot because it was so dark. Also, there was a guy lurking outside my door for some of every day. I believe he is the maintenance person but in any case I was very nervous and uncomfortable. He just hung out about five feet from my door which is in the back of a house. I didn't feel comfortable leaving when he was there so I had to wait. Even when he wasn't there he left his backpack and I though he was likely lurking around somewhere. Finally, when the smoke alarm went off twice I mentioned it. Santiago could not be clear about the repair. The maids also told him it was going off. Later he suggested I was smoking. I was gone for four hours when the maids had been there and told about it. Did he ask if they were smoking? As an aside, I DON'T SMOKE . . . ANYTHING! I won't even go into the repair of the smoke alarm which was a hot mess. The next night it went off constantly and I...
