The Beach House Boutique Hotel is a well-run, guest-friendly establishment. Both the manager and the general manager also worked as front-desk receptionists, ensuring that management keeps a close eye on everything happening at the hotel. Upon arrival, the manager checked us in and took us to our room to show us how everything worked. The general manager checked us out. We saw either one or both of them every day and made small talk with them. Both were very helpful and courteous.
My wife and I stayed there for ten days in early May and enjoyed every moment. Our positive impression of this hotel began long before our arrival. I contacted two small hotels in Roatan to inquire about their restaurants because I have celiac disease and need a gluten-free diet. The Beach House responded within a day, while I never heard back from the other hotel.
The Beach House has 14 rooms, which they justifiably call suites. Our room was spacious, clean, and furnished for comfort and convenience. The air conditioner was quiet and worked perfectly. All the rooms are beachfront, and the beach is three steps down from the porch of the hotel. Snorkeling was wonderful at a reef within the bay, about one hundred yards from the hotel, and the water was calm every day we were there. We saw all kinds of marine life.
We ate all our meals at the hotel restaurant during our stay and were never tempted to eat elsewhere. The restaurant overlooks the picturesque Half Moon Bay. The attached sunset picture was taken from our table during dinner. Nelson and Britney greeted us almost every morning for breakfast, and Patrick, Noel, and Andromeda rotated serving us lunch and dinner. We got to know all of them well, and they made us feel at home with their attentive and courteous service. Gustavo, the chef, and his staff listened to our needs and served us excellent meals every time. Every dish was cooked to order with fresh ingredients. Noel and Andromeda custom-made drinks for us, delivering exactly what we wanted each time.
This was the first time we stayed at a small boutique hotel, and we will be back. Oh, one more observation, the cruise ship passengers did not come to Half Moon Bay which we knew before choosing the...
Read moreThe rooms and hotel have a very contemporary design and make the hotel and rooms very appealing. It also has access to a lot of eateries in its central location. My favorite part of our stay was the restaurant upstairs and the wonderful service we received from Noel.
The service from the rest of the staff was underwhelming. They were dismissive and seemed bothered by questions as they were quite short. One experience we had was we noticed on day 2 no housekeeping had came so we requested a change of towels (no need to change sheets or do a full clean). We were out all day and came back and noticed it hadn’t been done. We asked again and waited. They still weren’t brought. Finally after another reminder they brought the towels an hour later. Out dehumidifier was also full and needed to be changed within a few hours of checking in and was never emptied during our 4 days there. I really wanted to love this hotel because of its beauty but I wouldn’t recommend. Although Puerta Azul in Sandy Bay may not look as luxurious, the staff is much more attentive both at the desk and housekeeping and that is worth it.
Another thing we weren’t expecting was how crowded the beach was. There were water taxis that came in and out and several people who used the hotel section of the beach which made it very loud (music playing, beer cans scattered, lots of children jumping from the dock). I realize on arrival it must be fully public. In the instagram, it is portrayed as a relaxing private retreat, but this was not the case. If you’re going to stay here, be sure to do so during the week and avoid Fri-Sun as these days were the most crowded.
I would go elsewhere if you can until they’re able to fix their service and beachfront given their...
Read moreThe Beach House looked great when we were looking for a place to stay on our first trip to Roatan and I have to say that it exceeded our already high expectations. My wife and I stayed here in June 2025 for a week of scuba diving. We had never been to Roatan before and the location looked good from what we could see online. What was hard to tell from the photos and videos is just how close everything is. From the Beach House, there are tons of dive shops, restaurants and stores in a brief walk. The room at the Beach House was very comfortable - it felt super clean and up to date (they renovated in 2021 and it still feels brand new). The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. We were there to scuba dive and we also like to get in a “beach day”. We took a water taxi down to West Bay to check out the beach there and the options for a day on the beach since it looked like a wider beach. It was a bit more crowded on West Bay so we decided to have our day on the beach right at the hotel and we were glad we did. The beach loungers are great - Henry brought our cushions for the chairs - and there are nice umbrellas. Shade on the beach in the morning got us off to a good start. We snorkeled in the bay - there are coral formations on both sides - and we saw lots of wild life including beautiful fish, an eel and a large school of squid even! You can get drinks and food brought to you on the beach, so what more could you ask for? We did the “dive and stay” package that they have with the dive shop next door “Sun Divers” and that was super convenient and one of the best diving setups we have had. So nice to be able to get off of the dive boat and be in your shower...
