Very average service, which is made worse by the fact that there's a fixed 15% added to the bill, which is indicated by a little white sticker in the menu. Service was again, disappointing. Yes, it was busy but there were enough staff, none of which looked up or around after delivering stuff to one table and just headed back to the bar. Food was okay. The fajita with beef tenderloin (2,990 Ft) wasn't bad, but the calzone with banana & Nutella was pretty dry, and like 98% Nutella. For 1,290 Ft, surely they could add a bit more banana! Took ages to get somebody's attention to get the bill, again as staff didn't bother to look up and around, and when a girl finally came, said I'd pay cash. She sent back a guy who arrived maybe 5 minutes later. Bill was 7,100 Ft or so. Gave the guy 8,000, he said "Köszönöm" and walked off. Waited and waited for the change before realizing we weren't getting any, so called him over to ask what happened. He explained that they were busy and that this was Hungary and got very rattled by the fact that a customer who is already being forced to pay 15%, regardless of the level of service, would be happy to just leave the balance paying over 25% in total. Ordinarily I'm very happy to round up and tip generously, especially for good service, but when the guy comes, who hasn't served the table at all, and takes the money without giving the change directly at the table, or at least asking if change is required, which is the norm in Budapest, that's where I draw the line. So in short, disappointed. Have been there several times several years ago and although the service has never been great was never as bad as this. Nice location in convenient spot with good access to tram stop for trams 17/19/41, etc, plus the 4/6, but not that great otherwise. I am writing this review with a heavy heart, as I had high hopes for our meal at Híd Bisztró. Sadly, our experience was far from satisfactory.
To start with, the uneven pacing of the food service was glaring. While one of our party received their meal on time, the other two of us were left waiting an additional 20 minutes for our orders. Our efforts to inquire about this delay were met with disregard rather than reassurance.
The situation worsened when we asked for the check. Our request was seemingly ignored as the check never arrived. Hoping to salvage our meal with a hot cup of coffee, we placed an additional order inside. Unfortunately, even the coffees we paid for didn't arrive, adding to our disappointment.
The poor service was upsetting enough, but the experience that truly crossed the line involved a staff member at the bar. When my mother approached him to inquire about our coffee, he began mocking her, repeating her words back to her in a disrespectful manner. His comments—"I don’t understand you and frankly, I don’t care"—served in Hungarian, were not only unprofessional but also deeply inappropriate.
Such an experience does not warrant a recommendation, and I urge prospective customers to think twice before spending their hard-earned money here. It's our hope that Híd Bisztró improves its service and treats future customers with the respect and courtesy...
Read moreI had a very unpleasant experience at this restaurant. I have visited this place many times before and always enjoyed their mozzarella salads, but this time the waiter’s behavior was extreme and unacceptable.
I entered with a friend and my bicycle, which is quite expensive (worth over one million HUF). I didn’t have a lock and was concerned about leaving it outside. The restaurant was nearly empty, and we intended to sit quietly and enjoy our meal. However, the waiter started shouting at us, telling us that we couldn’t bring our bicycles inside, even though I explained that I had no way to secure it.
The waiter was extremely rude and humiliated us in front of the other customers who were dining peacefully. He made no effort to find a solution and just told us to leave. I’ve never been treated this badly in any restaurant. This experience made me feel awful, and I won’t be coming back, nor can I recommend this place anymore.
I hope they improve their customer service so that no one else has to experience this kind...
