If you are a fan of Japanese cuisine this is the place to go. Authentic Japanese sushi and other dishes. Chefs are Japanese as well and you see them work as you enter the restaurant. It's a really small place ,super cozy and in the dining room there are a lot of japanese and anime products that you can buy(snacks, noodles, Ramen, coffee ,anime merchandise, tea, spices etc) We went there in November after walking around the city for sightseeing and it was super cold that day. So we started with their miso soup which was comfort food at it's finest, felt that it warmed our souls that evening, very simple yet super tasty. After that,we tried a selection of sushi accompanied with a Japanese distilled alcohol drink (I don't remember the name though). It was extremely flavorful and super fresh as they prepare it right away. The only thing that i didn't like was the fact that we ordered matcha ice cream and they brought us a brand can of ice cream and not prepared in house as shown in photos on the menu. (Tasty though).A lot of Japanese and Korean customers inside that day which is always a good sign for the quality of the food. Definitely will go back next November when...
Read moreA Japanese small restaurant/Japanese food items close to Corvin tram stop. The milieu is nice and reminds me of an Osaka hole in the wall type restaurant. There are plenty of tacky photos and posters. I ordered a karage chicken, which was very disappointing and soggy. If a Japanese restaurant can't fry up a simple karage and soak it in tare sauce, it means they are old or they really messed it up. If 5 tiny pieces costs over 1000huf, and it's prepped badly, it's unacceptable. Many of the fish items in the menu were unavailable, even the humble vinegared mackeral. So, I ordered the mixed seafood bowl, but disappointed again. It had few cubes of tuna and salmon, and the rest were avacado and surimi (fake crab meat). Can't remember the price, it was about 4 or 5000 huf. I know fish is pricy in Budapest, but over charging for fake crab and avacado isn't the right away, especially for a Japanese chef from Kansai. I guess the local may feel it as authentic and accept the over priced menus, but I wouldn't recommend for some who appreciates proper sushi for reasonable prices and food...
Read moreI am not sure how to reply to comments on reviews so I edit my review to reply to the comment. The reason for the 1 point rating is based on comparing your restaurant with Bambuszliget Japán Étterem & Sushi Bár. Firstly, the food is much cheaper there and much more delicious. Secondly, you supposed that everyone likes wasabi paste and filled each sushi piece we got with it. Thirdly, the desserts there are made in the restaurant and not made one year ago and delivered in a plastic bag. Regarding service, the entrance is very narrow and it is not convenient at all to stay there for even 5 minutes while ordering a takeaway as door is always hitting the customer standing in front of the counter. Regarding atmosphere, the whole place is very tiny and it tells you obviously you either order takeaway or if you stay just eat fast and leave the place as soon as possible. Unfortunately, I can't see why other people rated this place with very good reviews but this is my review after one visit which I think is more than enough...
