Their bryani is wet, overcooked, soggy and the chicken therein is dry and hard. Most restaurants in parts of the world I have travelled to that served bryani ALWAYS serve a bowl of curry together. With the exception of this one. And because amazingly, whilst the basmati was wet and soggy, the chicken they cooked together was dry, hard, tough to bite and chew, I had to ask for a bowl of curry to give taste and to at least make it less of a chore to finish the food, which they promptly charged. The cheek. Never coming back.
Oh and in case the authencity of the reviewer is questioned, he hails from Singapore and has eaten at least 10 different versions of bryani in Singapore and a few others in other parts of the world from street food, to coffee shops, hawker centres and restaurant. In fact, he grew up in a coffee shop owned by his grandparents with a Malay and Indian food stalls hawking their wares together. Yes he enjoys stuffing his face with curries and Biryanis, pratas, nasi padang, longtong, begadil, tahu telor, mee siam, mee rebus etc etc
Can confirm this is the worse thus far. Will update ya'll if I come across a record...

I’ve been a regular visitor to Zaika in Corvin, and I can confidently say it’s one of the best spots in Budapest for Indian food—especially their Chicken Biryani. The flavor, portion size, and freshness are exceptional. It’s evident they take their time to prepare meals properly, which I really appreciate.
They offer a buffet as well, but what stands out is that even then, the food feels freshly made and thoughtfully presented. The Butter Chicken is another standout dish, rich in flavor with real depth. And if you’re a fan of tea, don’t miss their Ginger Chai—it’s easily the best I’ve had in the city.
The location is fantastic, making it a convenient stop, whether you’re exploring or nearby. The only drawback I’ve experienced is with cleanliness: there have been occasions where I’ve had to clean my own table because service was a bit slow in that regard. That said, aside from that, the staff and overall service have always been good.
Highly recommend Zaika for anyone craving authentic Indian flavors...
Read moreZaiqa means flavour. That is exactly what this restaurant is. The food is very tasty. Very very tasty, better than most restaurants I've frequented, and I'm from London. The curry capital of the world. My wife and i visited on our last night in Budapest, We opted for the large plate set menu with chicken curry, as beef was unavailable. This comes with rice and a naan. We ordered one to share, as we weren't aware of the portion sizes. Some place do huge afghani naans. And we didn't want to over order. This was plenty enough for the both of us. My first bite made my taste buds tingle. Maybe it was because we had been in budapest a couple of days and living on bland kebabs or vegetarian food. And this was our first spicey meal. But whatever factors contributed to the experience, it was a good one. I would definitely recommend this restaurant, and if I was here for longer, I would go again. Next time, I'm in an Indian or Pakistani restaurant. I will be using Zaiqa as a benchmark. I won't forget this memory, it's imprinted on my tongue...
