Second time in this place, first time i couldnt be bother to write a review because I thought I'm not going to return. But I did , unfortunately! Got to the restaurant just before 9, we ordered our food, got our starters everything was nice and smooth. We took our time to eat and chat when I heard the waiter saying downstairs if we know that the kitchen shuts at 10:30 juts because we still eating our starter and is 10pm. I stayed quiet and I didn't say anything to my guest(to hurry up because they gonna throw us out) Few minutes later the waiter came to our table and we been told that the kitchen shuts at 10:30 And the restaurant is at 11. Tp make a hint to better to hurry up! So, we finished the starter (our mood is gone anyway) went downstairs for 5 min, leaving our plates on the table and by the time we got back we had our cold main course on the table! Than few min later the waiter came to us to ask if we want anything to drink(not even asking how is our meal) I just asked if we can order a dessert now(10:30) Of course we couldn't, the kitchen staff has gone at 10:30, no doubt our food was cold etc etc. My friend said he never felt so unwelcomed in a restaurant in his life just because the staff want to go home and kick everyone out! Me and my friends (working in a restaurant for many many years managing them, in different countries), we have never experienced such a service or seen , met such a staff! But I wouldn't mind to apply for a job here, (improve the service a bit) specially because I can get out exactly at 11pm (for example wherever I worked kitchen closing time was let say 11 pm, we still had to take orders at 10:50, no matter if is starter, main course or is only main course, and dessert :) we were lucky if they got the dessert menu at 12) and closing time😂😂you mean on that paper outside or the website?! Yes we know when we had our alcohol licence until:) This restaurant is not cheap, therefore we thought we can get something for our money, but instead we couldn't even order a dessert :)) Never going back and never going to recommend this place to anybody, unfortunately, I spend lot of time in Budapest and staying near to this restaurant and is a shame because this place could be a lot better Thanks for tonight! ... And sorry for...
Read moreThe experience was… disappointing. Firstly, we had a reservation but wanted to add more people to it. We did it 5-6 hours in advance but the restaurant confirmed the change only 30 minutes before the reservation. Then, we received the table right next to the entrance door, with the door literally being held open with a decorative trash can that stood right next our table. Half of the chairs were placed in such a way that we needed to further open the entrance door, so that we can squeeze between the door and the table to reach our chairs. If there was a person that was even a little overweight, they would have had great difficulty to reach their chair.
Then, came the service. These were some of the rudest waiters ever. Firstly, we asked for additional napkins. The waiter was really confused and REFUSED to bring us more napkins. Then, we started ordering drinks and I didn’t want to drink anything, only wanted to eat. Again, the waiter refused to get my order before all the drink were on the table. After he brought the drinks, I tried to order for a second time and he said,”YOU ARE REALLY HUNGRY, A?” What do you mean? I am in a restaurant. What else would I be doing there. Two people ordered starters and I only ordered a main course. Of course, he didn’t ask me if I wanted my dish now even though apparently he noticed that I was hungry. I had to wait for people to eat their starters and only then, did I receive my meal. I ordered fish with asparagus. This was one of the oiliest meals I’ve had in Budapest. The waiter threw a fit about wanting to pay separately, started cursing and slammed stuff on the table. Definitely,...
Read moreThis meal started badly - turned up on a Saturday night to be told that my reservation had been cancelled an hour before we were due to arrive but I hadn’t checked my emails. After a bit of discussion it transpired they had a lot of free tables (so a bit unclear why the fuss).
The starters were generally good: goose liver, a goulash soup and a platter of smoked stuff. All fine if a little lacking in flavour.
Then we waited for over an hour before three of our mains came. One steak and two ducks. All lukewarm, all overcooked - the duck was dry, almost dusty tasting, with the fatty skin totally unrendered, accompanied by cold, lumpy mash. The steak was tasty but well done despite being promised medium rare. The sauces had all split.
Another ten minutes had passed before the final main came. No apology, no recognition. This pork tenderloin was moist but lacked any seasoning or sides. None of the courses came with any vegetables and there was no option to order sides.
We then waited again, expecting our table would be cleared and we’d be offered desserts. 20 minutes on we had to ask for the bill and it took another 20 to come.
All in all, the food was not up to scratch and the service was dismal. There are so many places for good food in Budapest, so you’d do well to...
