Hi, A little bit harsh review as we were not able to eat there. We made a reservation around 18:15 for 19:15. The waiter said 'no problem, we will figure out something". We arrived less than 20min late with a baby, and they said they "booked already the table for someone else". The restaurant was 30% empty.
Anyone with a baby knows that searching with a baby is annoying on Saturday evening (1) finding something decent and not too big, (2) no reservation*.
Budapest is not NY. In the past days we saw restaurants holding tables for much longer. Next to that, their excuse was 'we cancel tables fast because 20% don't show up'. So you can expect that 20% of people don't show up after us. I can't imagine that most people arrive on time. The restaurant is in the touristic area of Budapest. I can't imagine that most people arrive within 20min of their reservation.
Normally I call if I am late 5min, now I didn't, but 15min late is just like not finding a parking spot, or whatever.
Our reason why we were late was to make sure that the baby wouldn't cry at the restaurant. So 15-20min late and no crying seems much better than being on time and crying.
There was complete inflexibility.
O.
*You can't just walk around for an hour with a baby searching for dinner. One hour extra strolling might make her more annoying when we arrive at another restaurant and as well annoy other people eating there. She will be too late in bed, resulting in a possible annoying night, and especially if we need to travel 5h next day, an annoying day. All these things might not happen, but do increase the chance to happen. Do you prepare to have dinner next to a crying baby with a chance...
Read moreWe had the pleasure of dining at Nanum in Budapest, and it was truly a remarkable experience. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm hospitality and an inviting ambiance that set the tone for the evening. Every dish was beautifully presented, with attention to detail that did not go unnoticed. The ingredients were fresh, and the flavors were well-balanced, leaving a lasting impression on our taste buds. The service was impeccable-attentive yet unobtrusive, making us feel truly valued as guests. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant was cozy yet elegant, making it an ideal spot for both a romantic dinner and a casual gathering with friends. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a memorable dining experience...
Read moreA very nice, authentic koreean-japanese fusion spot. We’ve visited it twice in two days, both times with children, and the staff was accomodating, attentive and professional, even though the restaurant does not advertise itself as child friendly. Food is impeccable, with big portions, so one course is an entire meal. I would recommend some kind of tasting menu setup eventually, because if somebody would like to try a variety of plates, they need to come bqck several times - which might work for locals, but not if you’re a tourist, and we are talking about the center of Budapest here, teeming with tourists. Price/value ratio is excellent, one of the best Budapest can offer....
