Smokey Monkies BBQ — Restaurant in Budapest

I went here once to try out and I wouldn’t go again. Got a chicken burger menu and had to pay 5.5k with %12 service fee for a service that I didn’t get. Its basically self service, you order from cashier and pay directly, you take your own trash etc. And if you ask what was in the burger menu: there was the chicken burger, fries and soft drink of your choice. I thought the burger better be good because for this price there was no good service, no nice atmosphere (its just a cheap looking fast food shop). I ate awesome burgers for cheaper price and in nicer “restaurants”, not shops. Food was also meh, not bad but not tasty. Burger had such a blend taste, nothing was wow. Bun was too bready, getting soaked and falling apart while eating. Fries were really nice tho I can’t lie. But I would much prefer paying this money in KFC and getting more...

I stumbled on Smokey Monkies when I took a different route home one afternoon, but it's only about 3 blocks from the tram stop at Kiraly Utca/Erszebet Korut. There is a small dining area, but they seem to do a brisk take away business. English menus are available. Order at the counter, my meal was delivered to my table. My chopped BBQ beef sandwich, topped with coleslaw was a taste directly from the USA. I also ordered BBQ beans, which were very good, but with a distinctly European flavor. My small draft beer was ice cold and the perfect size. Staff was friendly and helpful with excellent English. The decor was funky and fun. The playlist included 70s and 80s classic rock, which immediately made me feel...

The smokey Monkies, The one closer to Király út and Akácfa utca is not the best... It was my worst 😭 experience .. I order sweet potato fries and french fries 🍟, but the french fries was cold as it was already fried before I ordered.only the sweets potato fries was fresh and hot. Also the port rib there at this location was a disaster as they cut only the big bones part and made it two pieces instead of a single piece with meats in-between... Which means it was deliberate ... Their caravan street food vendor near Wesselényi ut didn't include fried which is a let down and more pricey than their menu in the shop.

There food shop near Deak Ferenc is still the best, I have been there more...
