I didn’t make a reservation in advance (though I definitely recommend doing so!), but I must’ve been incredibly lucky — I just walked in, the line wasn’t too long, and after waiting maybe 15–20 minutes max, I was given a perfect table right in the center of the restaurant, next to the live musicians. Honestly, I couldn’t have asked for a better seat — the atmosphere was just magical.
The waitress team was incredibly sweet, welcoming, and attentive, even though the place was almost full. There’s a live band playing, and the vibe of the whole place is absolutely beautiful — warm, alive, soulful. It truly feels like being welcomed into a loving, joyful family that actually cares how you feel while you’re dining.
As for the food — it was delicious. Everything is halal, and I ordered the beetroot hummus and the cauliflower, and I was very happy with both. When I asked to take the rest to go, the waitress thoughtfully added a fresh, warm pita bread to the takeaway bag — such a nice and caring touch that really stood out.
Despite how busy the restaurant was, the staff checked on me with a smile, asking if I enjoyed everything, and I truly felt cared for — even though I was dining alone. That says a lot.
I would absolutely recommend visiting Mazel Tov at least once, even if Israeli cuisine isn’t your go-to — go for the atmosphere, for the music, for the soul of the place. It’s a rare and...
Read moreAfter hearing so many fantastic reviews, we were excited to visit Mazel Tov for an afternoon lunch. The restaurant is conveniently located near the ruin bars in the inner city, making it easy to find. Upon arrival, we noticed how popular and busy the place was. The design and layout of the restaurant are unique and quirky, adding to its charm.
When we arrived, the entrance staff greeted us warmly and were very accommodating, especially considering that we had accidentally reserved for the wrong day 🫣. Kudos to them for their helpfulness. However, some of the other staff members were quite rude and difficult to engage with. A prime example was when our food order was misunderstood, resulting in half of my main course not arriving, though this was quickly rectified.
The mezza selection starter was fantastic, and it got us excited for the main course. Unfortunately, the main course was quite plain and lacked flavor—everything was rather bland, which was disappointing. I would strongly suggest opting for the street food options instead of the hummus bowls with either chicken or lamb.
The meal ended up being quite expensive, the most costly we've had in Budapest, and I felt it was overpriced for what we received. If I were to visit again, I would definitely choose different menu options, as other dishes looked more appealing.
Mazel Tov is a beautiful place and worth a visit, but unfortunately, I would recommend other restaurants...
