What makes us smart? Is it the things we learn, the things we feel, the things we say? Ancient philosophers used the word “éxypnos,” meaning “smart,” to describe a fast-casual dining experience that offers a unique combination of culinary merriment, unparalleled efficiency, and superior nutrition. Today, capitalism has stripped this ancient understanding from the word “smart” and left it hollow and meaningless. In our world of smart phones and smart homes, we have become enslaved to the very technologies that were supposed to make us free. It really makes you wonder, is the intelligence artificial ... or are we?
Amid this pitiful state of humankind, one establishment stands defiant to the tyranny of mass consumerism — Smart Kitchen. This stylish restaurant could only be created by the hand of god — the friendly employees his angels and its menu his newest testament. Salvation is as simple as a little sweet and sour sauce.
I had the unique opportunity to spend 4 months in Budapest researching Smart Kitchen. Little did I know, the whole time I was studying Smart Kitchen, Smart Kitchen was studying me. As we learned about each other, we began a beautiful affair and embarked on a never ending journey to discover the true meaning of “smart.”
Tears fill my eyes as I write this review because I know I will soon have to say goodbye to Smart Kitchen. But I will not let Smart Kitchen see me cry, because I feel so blessed to have discovered a restaurant that makes saying goodbye so difficult. As the traditional Hungarian phrase goes, “Good boys go to heaven, bad boys go to Budapest, and legends go to...
Read moreShort review: insanely good place insanely good food Long review: I just checked the lowest ratings for this amazing place and while accidents happen i cannot accept how some people are upset about the service or the exquisite taste of the food here. Of course if you don’t like Asian cuisine that’s fine, but saying not enough vegetables and what not is insane. I’ve eaten here multiple times (all a great experience) and try to order different items of the menu and i swear every time they make it soooo good i cant even explain it. I’ve never had a bad experience with the place, of course you’ve got the people saying that the wait time is a lot, and some people are complaining about the workers there also, which is extremely rude. They’re a small business, with cheap prices, good portions and great choices. Of course you have to wait a lot especially in rush hours and of course the workers need to rest sometimes and maybe wont notice you immediately. I love their food, its fresh i always get what i ordered and i don’t feel like im wasting money away at some fast food place instead, where i wouldnt even be full after spending the same amount. I’m so happy this team of amazing chefs exists and this is one of the reasons i love going to my university. Keep up the good work and keep making those yummy meals cause ill sure...
Read moreAlthough the operation has changed (you just need to choose the food and add meat/chicken/beans if you want), I found it quite convenient and reduced the waiting time. They provide fresh noodles made on the spot when customers order, and rice dishes (bibimbap) are also very attractive. With an economical price, you can have a pretty filling meal (the amount of rice and noodles is more than I imagined). However, you need to note: bibimbap is mixed rice, not Korean gimbap; The Vietnamese pho soup here is not traditional Vietnamese pho, it is fresh noodles and pho soup. The restaurant will be quite crowded during peak hours (lunch time), you need to line up and be a little patient. With extremely reasonable prices, convenient location (near Freedom Bridge and some major universities), takeaway food service, quite kind, lovely, enthusiastic staff (hihi)... I think you can come experience (and come back as many...
