I understand this restaurant has great reviews, but my experience with their food was just subpar. Server was a bit patronizing as well, which was not a good sign. I ordered pork drunken noodles and a Thai iced tea today. Noodles were salty, tea was not sweet. There was a waitress asking everyone how their food was, but I was never inquired. I addressed my concerns to the waiter at the moment of paying the bill but I noticed a service charge added on the bill, which I objected to. I asked if I could have it removed and the manager had to be involved, as waiter said it was not possible. When the manager came, I asked if the service charge could be removed as I was disappointed with the food. His reply was that this was already sent to the Hungarian government and bill couldn't be void, so I had to pay for the entire bill. Manager's defensive response to my relayed message when he came and our conversation led me to believe he was under the impression that I wanted a free meal. However, I clarified this point during our conversation. I simply didn't feel it was appropriate to give more money in the form of a service charge to a restaurant that didn't serve good food. The manager could've handled my feedback better and I told him I'd be leaving a review accordingly, to which he replied that the restaurant boats great reviews. I made him aware that's exactly why I went there. Perhaps they think one single random person's opinion does not matter and that says a lot about the business. However, they need to be aware that not everyone that walks into their business is a clueless tourist. Either way, I will be disputing this charge with my bank. It was not even that much, but in principle, they do not deserve this revenue. On the upside, the...
Read moreI believe he was the manager, very friendly, fluent English, and was very willing to openly speak about Thai and Lao cuisine. I was pleasantly surprised to find that dishes, which are bastardized in the US such as pad ka prao is made here with the real holy basil and not Thai purple basil like in the US. The dish itself was pretty good though I will say that it had some Hungarian influence the sauce being dark and salty but more like soy sauce salty rather than fish sauce. He did bring me some plain Fish sauce on request and that fixed that pretty quickly. The Yasmin Rice was prepared perfectly. The fried egg was perfect! I got the sticky rice coconut alone without the mango to go, I’m not sure if there is any price adjustment for leaving out the mango. He told me they make it with palm sugar. When I got home, the sticky rice was decent, but the coconut sauce just tasted basically like it was coconut cream from the can, so I had warmed it with sugar and salt to achieve the typical coconut sauce. I was surprised by the array of Thai dishes they offered because it exceeded that what we have in New York City. And they use quality chicken cuts like breast meat. It’s great to hear the southeast Asian community has grown in Budapest and therefore establishments with less Europeanized...
Read moreWe were searching for a thai restaurant near us with good reviews, however there were so many, so we just decided to go with the one that ended up being the closest to us, and thank god for that. When we first arrived we were pretty skeptical because the place looked uninviting from the outside, but once you stepped inside it was nice and cozy . Our waitor was AMAZING, he was so kind, and always said thank you after everything , he didn’t complain or make any faces and was always smiling. We’ve been to Thailand many times, and can say that this food is pretty close on to being there. We enjoyed every dish all the way up until dessert. They had many vegan/vegetarian options and were ready to adapt any dish that I wanted to make it to my liking. The owner was there as well and he was great! We ordered fresh, and fried spring rolls, which had such great vegetables. We ordered soup and wontons, which my parents liked , they ordered papaya salad. I had the pad thai which was amazing. All the food was a hit and as mentioned so was their service, their bathroom as well was very clean. To top it off, we had great dessert and then walked outside to get a thai massage as it was right near. Would definitely recommend this place for people who...
