My friend wanted me to join him for a dinner. I am not a fan of steaks but there were no other relevant option here, hence I could not eat anything. I decided to have some champagne instead, but the waiter declared that they can serve only whole bottles, not a glass. Therefore I opted for a glass of beer. The waiter looked at me and talked to me as he himself would be a prince having peasant guests all around, just because I could not find anything from their "premium" menu card. Also he pretended that he bears the highest level of nobleness, while I am only a simple guest, to beg for his pardon. This attitude is when you just feel like he pretends to be polite, but in real he is snooty, not frank. Although I did not taste any of their foods, it was clear by reading the menu that all of the items were ~50-100% overpriced compared to UK, and western European restaurants. My friend told me however, that the steak he had was really fine, but expensive. On top they charge plus 12% service fee by default. I feel it ridiculous. Otherwise the place has a good atmosphere and outfit, though the toilets are at medium cleanliness. In summary it was greatly disappointing for me at least. We have been there in the evening of...
Read moreWe combined our weekend trip with friends to Budapest with a birthday dinner for our son at Pampas Steakhouse, which was very close to the hotel we stayed during the weekend. We made the reservation online a week upfront after checking the online menu and read other online reviews. Long story made short, we can fully recommend this restaurant to everybody visiting Budapest and loving to have great evenings with outstanding food. From starters to desserts, whatever you choose tastes great. Meat is grilled or cooked exactly to the point of your desire and even special wishes such as a birthday table firework for our son's birthday was made possible without any problems. The restaurant has two separate rooms, one in the front and one for smaller groups (we were six but eight or ten are absolutely no problem) in the back. Ambience is great and comfortable though on the very dimmed side, which made it very relaxing for us. The personnel can also communicate in english language, as is the case in many hungarian locations. Pricing is probably for hungarian measures on the higher side however the food and service deserved every and each...
Read moreWe have been here several times and always been very satisfied with the cuisine and the service. This Wednesday almost the same. We had 2 waiter taking care of us. We had appetizers and proper size of USDA steaks. Wanted to have a glass of Malbec and a Syrah for the dishes. During the tasting of the Malbec I have said to the waiter the house wine Malbec is not round however I liked it and it will dance very well with the dish. Then quite suddenly I got lectured that “you got to air it”. I was unaware that an observation of a wine body, fruitiness etc. or saying its not round considered to be criticism (taking into account choosing your wine is personal preference at the end of the day). Well the wine did not become round later, still enjoyed it. There were some other remarks from the same waiter and the way of communication I personally would not consider professional. (There was no language barrier since we talked in Hungarian)
Overall we had a great experience (quite a few occasions) we were happy with the dishes and the wine also, one of the waiter was extremely professional so I would recommend...
