Oshi — Restaurant in Akureyrarbær

This place was a highlight of the trip. Originally was just gonna drive through town but decided to grab a bite. Was looking for a burger and while searching on Google noticed this place and figured I'd give it a try. Little did I know it was gonna be the best gods damned sushi I've probably ever had. The owner and chef, has found a wonderful balance in taste and texture with his own personal mix of sushi rice vinegar. I got the variety plate and each one was just as good as the next and all different. Was able to chat with the owner because it was late lunch early dinner and it really added an extra insight to the genius behind the meal. This place was a bit of surprise. We'd come to the shopping centre to do a grocery top up for our stay in Akureyri, but it was nearly dinner time so we figured we'd see what the food options were in the shopping centre.

Excellent. Very original dishes, with great quality ingredients. The duck dumplings and the Oshi platter were amazing. The owner explained the concept and originality of his dishes, he was very passionate, and it showed in the food's quality. Definitely worth a visit for lunch or dinner. Note that it's part of a food court inside a shopping mall. I went after 18.00, so the shops were closed. Don't expect a great atmosphere as a bar, but you should go for the food and...
