For a decade now I have been hearing rave reviews of this place from my relatives in this city, most agree to this being the best restaurant around, finally got to try the place out on my last visit to Guwahati, we went in for lunch and the place was fully packed, with people waiting out for sitting. The food on offer is proper India fare with an extra dash of ghee, oil and butter. We were eleven of us and ended up ordering many dishes. The ones which stood out for me were the special dal, it was actually light for a restaurant made dish, the only other dish to stand out was the Panner Buji, it was well made and tasted great. Rest were mediocre at best. My conclusion, it’s meant mostly for the older generation, decades back there use to be many such joints now most have shut down or either modernized there menu. Very unprofessional. They make you wait outside for more than an hour. If you want to ruin your dream dinner this place is hell for you. They make your evening worse. They especially allow people who come after you to sit before you. Like we were 8 people together since table for 8 was not vacant they allow people having up to 4 before you even when they come after you. Even ladies and kids have to wait outside for more than an hour. It was a mistake to visit there. But I never repeat any mistakes again knowingly. So in simple words I will never visit again. This is not the only option to visit there are a lot who respect people and their time not like them who make people wait outside. Even their food quality is also poor. For example the paneer we got was too tight like rubber. They are just enjoying the old goodwill but at present time they don't deserve the crowd. After all quality matters not the quantity. Its a pure veg restaurant opposite Alfresco Grand on Fancy Bazar side... You have to walk around 20 steps in an alley... We were three friends and ordered Dal Fry/Tadka, Malai Kofta and Kadai Paneer and veg kebabs(for starters)... Dal Fry n Malai Kofta was good... Kadai Paneer was just ok... Veg kebabs were awesome... Gulab jamun was great... Chapatis were good n fresh... It costs around Rs. 1,000/- for three people... Its opening time in the evening is from 06:30 pm to 10:00 pm... On certain days its full n you have to wait outside for ur turn... Good for family/friends get together... Ambience is perfect to spend quality time with ur loved ones... Tip: 1.
