I had an extremely unpleasant experience at the restaurant "1947." The staff at the entrance was undoubtedly one of the worst I have encountered. Not only did they fail to greet customers, but they were also downright rude to anyone who didn't choose the buffet option. Their behavior towards those customers was disrespectful and completely unacceptable. I have no idea who owns this establishment, but it's evident that they have no regard for providing a pleasant and customer-friendly experience.
Moving on to the food, it was below average in terms of taste and quality. The ambiance of the restaurant was nothing more than a cramped 1200 sqft hall, with approximately 100 tightly packed tables. It felt like you were practically eating from your neighboring tables, with no privacy or personal space whatsoever. This overcrowding is primarily due to the emphasis on buffets, which have made the à la carte options excessively expensive. The taste of the dishes served was far from satisfactory, leaving much to be desired.
Given my disappointing experience, I strongly advise against dining at "1947." The lackluster food, cramped ambiance, and exorbitant prices for à la carte meals make it an unappealing choice. Additionally, even the buffet option seems dubious, as there are concerns about the excessive use of soda in their beverages as a cost-cutting measure. Save yourself the trouble and disappointment by choosing a different restaurant that prioritizes customer satisfaction and provides a more enjoyable...
Read moreIf you are a foodie and a veggie you will aspire for a buffet in a hotel with a decent name tag and location. If you have chosen 1947 Malleshwaram, you most certainly are going to regret it. Decent name tag- yes, location-yes but that’s all. You have a host of guys welcoming you at the elevator at fourth floor and don’t bother to speak in Kannada. They respond only in English or Hindi even if they know our language. The buffet hall looks more like a VRR in Railway platform with lots of space but poor lighting and even poorer table arrangements. The looks on the faces of the waiters reminds you that you have entered the buffet hall where you eat unlimited, irrespective of their poor attitude. Come to the food. An array of names and that’s it. You either discover that the stock is over or the stock is kept to a bare minimum. And if it comes to you to insist for a filling, they make sure that you wait till you loose patience or the staff’s rude and disgusting language fills you enough. The bare truth is don’t waste good money to spoil your mood and appetite. Bengaluru is known for fine multi cuisine catering and this joint is one blot on it. The single star is for the location as it is easily accessible and for the parking slot in...
Read moreThe ambiance is nice and spacious. It has that air of post independence celebration admixed with gloom. The walls are decorated with paintings that depict classical life during the independence days integrated with depiction modern gadgets/life, which might be freaky for those who have purist tastes in art. The bathrooms are well maintained and they look artistic depicting those poor life just after we gained freedom in 1947. The staff are polite & understanding, well maybe with couple of exceptions. There is a paan stall to your left front, just when you come out of the lift or straight ahead if you used the stairs. The food was average and frankly speaking fell short of expectations, probably because of all the hype about this place, hence was disappointing or nothing extraordinary. It is not bad at all definitely. So will I be avoiding this place in the future?, definitely not. But I won't be all super excited either to dine here. But for guests who'd want this artistic experience and not much emphasis on the food to be gourmet like, then this is definitely a...
