Topping my list of best south Indian stop for idlis, Vadas and Dosas, South of Bengaluru.
Food : 5/5 - Damn, they have the best Vadas, hands down, fresh, crispy and so damn tasty! Their idlis are super soft, they'll melt in our mouth very easily. They have Benne Masala Dosa which is so damn good, they can easily compete with the likes of CTR Sagar hotel. They are so crispy, golden brown, fermented batter - can smell it, super tasty. Full marks for all. Loved it, it's going to be my favourites for a long time now. Chutney is good too, but i wish it was slightly better. Tbh, no complaints on the chutney, but the only suggestion i had is if they put more tadka in the Chutney. When it comes to best Chutney, Taaza still tops my list.
Ambience : 5/5 - This is not a place where you can sit and seat, you or your family members need to be ok to stand and eat. They have ample space inside and outside the restaurant for you to stand and eat, there's just a few smaller tables or areas where you can manage to take a seat. The surrounding is beautiful with greenery, theres a park nearby and a hall right opposite, which gives a good vibe around. We visited in the evening, around 8.30-9 the crowd was decent and not too much. We visited it on a Thursday evening.
Service : 5/5 - Parking for 4 wheeler can get slightly challenging, but it's definitely not difficult. You may just end up parking a little far, the spots around the restaurant would usually be full. There's enough space for 2 wheelers you might be able to get it quickly. A huge bonus to this place is that they have a token system. I have respect to restaurants like these who manage the crowd and system so well. All other restaurants really need to learn this, it's simple yet so efficient. So once you bill, they'll hand you a small token with a number on it. Once they call out your token number is when you go and take it. A simple old, regular system which is still not so implemented in many Darshinis and other places. I'm guess this has been done considering the crowd that can gather over the weekend. But i still see many other Darshinis who still are yet to adapt.
Overall - 5/5 : Definitely a place to be considered...
Read moreno HYGIENE, TERRIBLE food, PERVERTS in the CROWD and FRUSTRATED STAFF: reasons to not visit Bengaluru cafe.
Terrible staff: I wish there was a robot managing the line last Sunday. There was an extremely rude staff member whose only job was to manage the line but he was still shouting at people. While headhunting, the cafe would have probably put up expected frustration level as 10/10 as this guy was exhibiting that very well.
About the hygiene: They use a jhaadoo to clean the pan and then put it on the red gas cylinder next to the pan. Remember this red gas cylinder has traveled the world and is full of germs. They are using that jhaadoo to clean the pan!! They also use hands to put butter on their masala dosa which makes me feel sick about what I ate. They keep no tissues, there is diluted chutney that is extremely inconvenient to handle flowing evrywhere, it was a sickening feeling.
About the taste: The taste is not worth the ridiculing experience that you have to go through to get a plate. Khara bath was below average and so full of ghee that it made me feel vomitish. Dosa was nothing special, the wait for it was painstaking. Kesari bath, I could not buy it owing to the stench coming from the kesari bath that my neighbour was eating. I have doubts about what ghee are they using on Sundays! Vada was ok and idli was so so ordinary. Drinking coffee there was also a troubled experience!
Beware of creeps and perverts in the crowd: Ladies, beware of lechers and creeps who will take advantage of the Sunday crowd and try and touch inappropriately. There was a creep like that over there last Sunday who wore an orange shirt, he immediately says sorry and I thought he was genuine. But I observed him again and he tried to touch another girl inappropriately in the same line. Sadly I lost him and could not take his photo! So beware! Infact avoid this place as its not worth the harrowing experience that you will go through! There are so many nicer darshinis in Bangalore that care, place tables for the customer, provide tissues and have excellent food...
Read moreLocated in quite neighborhood of Jaynagar, at a 7 min walking distance from South End Metro station, this place was suggested to me by a friend who talked highly about it. Curiosity brought me here and I was greeted by a huge crowd at this place.
Initially became a bit hesitant thinking it'll take a lot of time but saw the service is too fast and the way staff handles the crowd is amazing! They hardly let the rush moving while keeping the atmosphere lively.
Coming to food, I ordered:
Idli Vada: The idli was so soft that it literally melted in my mouth. Any person with dental issue can easily gorge on this dish while the Vada was crisp as it should be! They serve it with coconut chutney which was outstanding. I did feel a dash of mint, ginger in there which elevated it's taste to a huge extent. The idli vada dipped in the pool of chutney simply put me in food coma!
Plain Dosa: The name though suggests plain dosa, it was benne plain dosa. Initially, I didn't plan to have this but having seen other people stand in a line for this I fell for the peer pressure and glad I did it. The dosa was crispy, never ever I have had such dosa before. Properly crisp on the outside and soft inside with right amount of butter, that's benne dosa for you! The green coconut chutney served with this was different to the one served with idli, here it was a little dry which went well with dosa.
Filter coffee: Finishing off your breakfast without filter coffee is undoubtedly a sin! The amount of coffee and milk was perfect and the server managed to get the right amount of froth. The taste was good though I would like to try it bit strong whenever I visit next!
To sum up, I found myself in heaven and this was the best idli, vada and dosa I have ever had in my life. Definitely gonna visit this place soon and try out other items as well! As for Bengaluru.. this definitely seems like the breakfast...
