Visited Toscano at Jayanagar (near Madhavan Park Circle) last weekend — it was a good experience overall, though not without a few hiccups.
The ambiance is warm and inviting, with a slightly upscale yet relaxed vibe. The staff was courteous, though the service did feel a bit slow during the peak dinner hour — especially when we were trying to get refills or follow up on a delayed dessert.
Food-wise, here’s what we tried: Margherita Pizza – The base was nicely crisped and the ingredients fresh, but it felt a little under-seasoned. A touch more salt or olive oil drizzle might have brought the flavors to life better.
Truffle Fries – These were definitely the highlight! Crispy, golden fries with a good hit of truffle aroma and plenty of parmesan. Rich, satisfying, and quite addictive.
Chicken Piccata – The lemon-caper sauce was punchy and vibrant, but the chicken itself was slightly dry. Not inedible, just not as juicy as I’d expected from a place of this calibre.
Prawn Risotto – Creamy and flavorful, with well-cooked prawns. However, the risotto was a tad overcooked and leaned closer to mushy than al dente — a small miss on texture.
Tiramisu – This one was a bit of a letdown. While the mascarpone was light and airy, the coffee flavor didn’t come through strongly, and the sponge was a little too soggy for my taste.
I also tried their Sangria, which was pleasant but not particularly memorable. It lacked the depth and fruity boldness I was hoping for, tasting a bit watered down compared to the Sangrias I’ve had at other Toscano outlets.
Overall, Toscano still delivers a fairly enjoyable Italian dining experience. The ingredients are mostly fresh, and there’s clear effort in presentation — but for the price point, I was expecting a bit more consistency and finesse. Would I go back? Yes, but probably during a quieter hour, and I might be a little more selective with...
Read moreWe went on the 9th of Feb 2020 3 of us and it cost us Rs 4060 , it is very expensive restaurant. we had not made any reservations and went there by 1 pm. It was empty then. The restaurant is in 2 floors and you need to climb about 8 steps for the ground floor and about 15 steps ( steep ) for the first floor . The kitchen is at the ground floor and bar on the first floor . on the ground floor you have option to seat out side . Read moreAh Toscanos! Been in my list for a long time to explore. Although I've been here once before, i haven't fully enjoyed it last time and also the time i recently visited, not because of the place but i guess the company. I really want to try a lot of stuffs here, but haven't been able too. I think the time will tell.
So far I've been i think only twice here, first time i only remember i tried the Fish & Chips, not sure if they still have it on the menu, didn't see that this time. But i remember it was good. On my second visit, which is the most recent one I've had the choice of Bread (Jalapeno), a Pumpkin based Risotto, and a Pana Cotta desert. Not much again, couldn't explore more. I still want to do a Fine Wine & Dine experience here. I'm not sure when that'll be. Bread was freshly made, so it actually tasted very good. They will also give you a complementary Bread for tasting, with some olive oil and some sauce. As usual, they taste fantastic. There's a lot more dishes that I'd like to explore here and I'm hoping that I'll be able to do that soon.
Ambience of Toscano as well is great, infact their choice of interriors, colors, fonts and stylish interriors make you feel good about an Italian restaurant, not everyone gets that. There are restaurants that are good with italian food but not focused on an Italian ambience. Toscano has ticked that box.
Service, we were served by a good number of folks, one of them to mention was Vishwajeet (or Biswajeet, couldn't fully catch the name). Good guy, took care of us. Again, i need to visit this place often to know it's entirety.
Overall a 5/5, will update more on...
