I am sure that my feedback or review (whatever one chooses to call it) is not going to make any difference to the functioning of this so-called iconic Bengaluru eatery. However, I shall do what I ethically need to do – give it a comprehensive and honest review. My sincere advice to fellow travellers and food enthusiasts: DO NOT EVER VISIT ‘Brahmins' Coffee Bar’ unless you want to have your system and (not 'or') mood messed up. After a medical check-up yesterday at a diagnostic centre in Jayanagar (Wednesday – July 2, 2025), my partner and I wanted to have something wholesome and healthy. Therefore, we made it a point to reach this tiffin place – an eatery that has almost become a part of Bengaluru's collective history. We ordered two (2) plates of Idly – each having two (2) Idlys, two (2) plates of Khara Bath, and two (2) cups of Filter Coffee. The Idly was tasteless, the chutney was so spicy that I had to throw the plate away, and the Khara Bath was average at best. However, what was the worst was the Filter Coffee – tasteless, and absolutely flavourless. The staff was extremely rude. It seemed as if these people were doing some sort of a charity by serving paid food. There was this lady who was manning the serving counter. She almost screamed at my partner for taking a couple of photos without disturbing anyone. However, the worst was yet to come for us! When we reached home, both of us had upset stomachs and we have since been recovering from the horror. I am never going to go to this place for sure. What I am also going to do is dissuade all my colleagues and my students from visiting this place. I am also going on Social Media soon enough to write about my experience. Folks, buck up! If you do not respect your customers, believe you me, today or tomorrow, you are going to wind up without an iota of doubt! Bengaluru is such a lovely city with such a lovely bunch of people. Never ever have I faced such humiliation and torture at the hands of an eatery that boasts of keeping the old Bengaluru...
Read moreBrahmin's Coffee Bar in Bangalore is a quintessential landmark for South Indian breakfast lovers. Located in the heart of Basavanagudi, this humble eatery has been serving classic South Indian dishes for decades, drawing both locals and tourists alike with its authentic flavors and nostalgic atmosphere.
The menu at Brahmin's Coffee Bar is simple but effective. The highlight is undoubtedly the idlis—soft, pillowy, and served fresh from the steamer. They are paired with chutney all of which complement the idlis perfectly. The vadas, golden and crispy on the outside with a soft, fluffy interior, are another popular dish here. For those who enjoy a strong, aromatic coffee, the filter coffee is a must-try. It’s rich, strong, and served in traditional stainless steel tumblers, offering the perfect kick to start your day.
One of the most remarkable aspects of Brahmin's Coffee Bar is its consistency. Despite the passage of time and the growing number of competitors, it has retained the same flavors and quality that made it famous. The no-frills setting, with its modest decor and simple wooden tables, adds to the charm and authenticity of the experience. It’s a place where food takes center stage, and the focus is purely on delivering delicious, traditional South Indian fare.
The only downside might be the crowds. It’s common to see long lines during peak hours, and seating can be limited. However, the wait is definitely worth it. The affordability of the dishes makes it accessible to everyone, and the friendly staff ensures a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
In conclusion, Brahmin's Coffee Bar is a must-visit for anyone in Bangalore craving an authentic South Indian breakfast. It combines rich flavors, tradition, and simplicity, making it a memorable...

My Dad used to bring me here in the 80’s when the “Mother” was taking care of operations. The warmth from the granny is one thing I can never forget. Now her son Mr. Radhakrishna Adiga, who himself is a very colourful personality ,still carries this legendary tiffin centre’s legacy with his unique voice and charming smile.
Even after many decades, this eatery is Still serving one of the best Hot Hot Idlis and VaDes in the city. The idlis are nice, soft and have to right amount of porosity to absorb the watery chutney. The Uddina Vadey/VaDa, even though reduced in its size compared to its predecessor, is still big compared to other new eateries, is served with a nice crispy exterior and a fluffy interior. The ingredients which make up the VaDey are of great quality. The add the right amount of chopped up fresh coconut 🥥 pieces, some broken black pepper and chillies along with cumin and fresh coriander 🌿 leaves. Believe me, this is one of the best Vadey’s you will even have in your life! Only if they made sambar to compliment this VaDey.
This is the only place where i eat the Kharabath. It doesn’t have the strong masala they add in other places and its not too mushy.
Good Filter Kaapi/coffee ☕️ . The one other thing you must not miss. The balance of the chicory and the coffee powder in this blend is the key to the taste of the coffee.
The chutney used to be nice tasty and spicy but now to please the Jain/Marwari and few other non spicy tasty buds, the chutney has been toned down to please the new Bengalooru crowd. Hope some day they go back to the...
