Garden by Su is a charming green space in 5th block Jayanagar, with cute instagrammable corners in both its plant heavy outdoors as well as its artsy indoors. The plant heavy theme is expressed beautifully not just in the interiors but also on the pure vegetarian menu. I was thoroughly impressed with their salad options spread across their menu, and I indulged to my heart's content, kick starting with a classic caesar salad from their salad menu. It had beautifully fried capers, grilled veggies with garlic crystals, olives tossed in a ceasar dressing with garlic croutons on a bed of crisp romaine lettuce, with parmigiano reggiano shavings. Absolutely stunning salad that was light, fresh and a umami that kickstarted our palette on what's to come. My next, a carpaccio of beets from their appetizer menu, was a work of art on a plate with dill, torn arugula leaves, a mix of toasted seeds and nuts, on wafer-thin mildly roasted beetroot slices , with just a seasoning of himalayan rock salt and pepper with crumbled feta and parmesan shavings with an EVOO dressing, of lime and olive oil. It was crunchy, earthy, with a salty umami perfection on a plate and thankfully they had underplayed the feta to elevate this dish, from your regular beetroot and feta salad. I went back to their salad menu in the end for a Heirloom tomato carpaccio, a very simple salad with thinly sliced assortment of green and red tomatoes, with just a pesto, burrata, with a pine nut sprinkle and a balsamic reduction drizzle. The tomatoes just sliced thin, were fresh, crispy, and a winner with or without the burrata. They have produly procured the burrata from the famous local cheesemaker, Vallombrosa, that was a delight by itself, and that balsamic drizzle was simply perfect.
In Between these fresh creations, we managed to gobble up a bruschetta three ways, a sundried cherry tomato and feta, assorted mushrooms and thyme with mini dollops of buffalo mozzarella and pine nuts, and a pesto marinated bocconcini and bell peppers with a balsamic reduction. The thin baguette bread was crisp and held the toppings really well and I loved the flavour profiles that were not just interesting but also it was tradition with a twist.
To wash down the courses, I had ordered the nannari, a drink favourite from Madurai, where a syrup made from the sarsaparilla root extracts is blended with lime and chia seeds for that extra oomph, and cools down the body that also acts as a blood purifier too.
The wide main course menu posed a challenge for us to choose, but decided on a Spaghetti A La Zucchini, and an activated charcoal dim sum on a Thai green curry. The spaghetti is actually made with zucchini, instead of whole wheat pasta, tossed with a saucy pesto with peperrancino and parmesan shavings. While the spaghetti could have been thicker, and a little more dry, it was a very unique dish that I have been meaning to try and the slice of bread was just right to soak up all the delicious sauces.
The activated charcoal dimsums were a stunning dish, while the Thai green curry started as mild, the after heat hit me strongly, and the charcoal dimsums were very good and made a stunning visual impact of black dimsums on a neon green broth.
For desserts we chose to order two, with a classic affogato with their house churned madagascar vanilla bean gelato and a filter kaapi pour over. The gelato made a stunning influence over the coffee and it was a fantastic way to end the heavy meal. The dark velvet chocolate was silky, with 60% chocolate, with a mild orange zest and a multi seed caramel candy. A stunning dish, that I highly recommend even though I am not a fan of chocolate and citrus, together.

Read moreI’m not one to stick exclusively to traditional Indian cuisine & I enjoy exploring continental dishes. However, the food at this restaurant is appallingly subpar, and I am extremely DISSAPOINTED with its preparation!
First, the portion sizes are an absolute JOKE and the dishes were extremely overpriced!! I ordered a Mediterranean Platter and was insulted with a PATHETIC SPOON OF HUMMUS and three tiny pieces of bread. How do you expect that to satisfy even one person?
It was as if they were deliberately mocking their customers. The hummus was atrocious—the worst I’ve ever tasted. With my extensive experience dining at top-notch restaurants worldwide, including those run by Arabs, I can confidently say this is not how hummus should taste!!!
I strongly advise against wasting your time or money here, especially if you plan to bring more than two people!
As someone who appreciates traditional Italian cuisine,🤌 I have to be blunt—the fettuccine a la Roma was DREADFUL!!
It was a mushy mess, wasn't cooked till the ideal Al Dante. The sauce was tasteless and bland, devoid of any real flavor. The pasta to sauce ratio was improper! This is NOT how an Italian dish should be prepared. This dish failed to meet even the most rudimentary aspects of my expectations.
I should express my utter contempt for this restaurant’s horrible execution of its dishes.

Read moreAs a regular to sante spa which existed here before, i will be makeling some comparisons, especially since the waiters and infrastructure is largely the same.
The good - service is faster and the pleasant vibes continues to give a great ambience
The bad - compared to sante spa, the quality of ingredients have certainly taken a hit in exchange for slightly cheaper prices. The impact of this is that you have a menu that uses more chillies and likely cheaper (chemically refined) oils and processed cheese with smaller quantity and/or watered down sauces.
However, clearly most people don't mind this, so perhaps we were in the minority for noticing this dip in quality.
That said, these are the list of dishes we ordered for 4 people and a bill of Rs 5k. We were served by Vikas who was very good at his job.
Mushroom dimsums - very good! Ragi pizza - very good! Wheat pizza - also very good! Zuchini pasta - not recommended, watery pesto and salt was off, also quantity. DIY pasta - very good! (quantity on lower side, but may suit most youngsters) Lasagna - ours had more pepper than it should have had. But overall it was filling. In fact, i would rate it better in quantity than the nearby Glen's bakehouse(Jayanagar) that also makes lasagna. Soups - both their clear vegetable soup and their cream of broccoli do not impress, nor does the serving size redeem them. Cheese cake - very very good!
I would Love it if they bring back a little sattvik focus like their predecessor did, which had a pleasant feeling on the gut (which means sourcing ingredients differently). Nevertheless , Garden by Su is certainly something to check out if you are a vegetarian. I am Certainly coming back for...
