Reached the place at 6.55 am. It was closed, lights were off. Enquired opening time, (guard was standing outside). He said 7 am. ( 7 am also listed as opening time on website). So we waited on the footpath till 7 am. There was no sign of opening. We went into SFO hotel( the parent hotel next door), and asked at reception. They said 7.30 am, but had no answer as to why 7 am was listed as opening time. They just told us to wait for 10 min. Fine, we waited. After 10 min, there was still no sign of opening. On asking again, reception staff told us to wait for 10 MORE min. After 20 min, we were finally allowed into the restaurant. We went in and sat down. The manager then told us that dosas will take ANOTHER 10 min, only idlis and few other dishes were ready. When we said that we had come there only for dosas, he said it will take SOME MORE time, and we can have other dishes in the meantime. We decided to wait. THEN, we saw one of the waiters enter. He was sniffing, as if he had a cold. He then proceeded to WIPE HIS NOSE WITH THE PALM OF HIS BARE RIGHT HAND. He then grabbed a bunch of spoons and forks WITH THE SAME HAND, and placed the same utensils on all the tables!! We left, vowing to never return. I suggest that anyone who cares about health should definitely...
ย ย ย Read moreVishranti Bhavan@cable car in j.p.nagar is a revival of the legendary restaurant in central Bangalore. It is a welcome addition to "good bengaluru veg " restaurants in south Bengaluru.
Ambience : Neat decor, comfortable seating and a compact place.
Food : Uddina vada was the king of the day ! Ticked all the boxes : perfectly crispy exterior, light feel and right balance of everything inside :)
The mini breakfast is very very mini .. Just about enough for an average appetite belly. Pongal had loads of ghee and tasted closer to the venn pongal in tamil nadu restaurants. ๐ Kesaribath was so less that I could not get a feel for it . Will go back and try a full quantity :) Kharabath feels homely like uppittu. I would have liked sambar if it were more flavorful. Dosa was light and nothing special to write about . I prefer Masala dosa with red chutney and tons of ghee .
They give sugarless coffee as standard. Aromatic , right thickness and a winner all the way ๐
The veg sagu that came along the Poori was atypical and light. I prefer sagu with a little more gravy in it .
Overall : 4/5 A very good option for family breakfast outing .
Had the extra privilege of meeting the friendly US return owner Shri. Sreekanth Karkada, a 3rd gen...
ย ย ย Read moreThis place is something I kept seeing for many years but finally got one fine Sunday to really try it out. I must admit the food, service, ambiance were all top class.
It has a decent bike and car parking if you are coming in your vehicle. There is Valet Available too.
The Ground Floor restaurant serves Alacarte. So you can just go in and get a table when free. It is not very spacious but decently good. The tables are well placed and seating was very comfortable. Tables had spoons, drinking water and a bottle with a Rose๐
There were enough waiters to take the order. We tried the Corn Soup and Pasta. It took around 15 mins for the order to come. But the taste was very delicious. The Corn soup had one of the best textures I have tried till date. The Pasta was bland but was very filling and was topped with enough veggies.
The Price was bit expensive but worth it totally. Weekends could be crowded. Hence try to pre book. Also there is a buffet available in the 5th floor if you would like to try...
