“We serve Delhi style delectable and authentic Chole bhature and chaats” - Gopal Jee Cafe As promised on Google Reviews, Gopaljee brings the real flavours of Delhi right in the heart of Bangalore.
🌼 Chole Bhature- or Chana Bhatura is one of the most popular, tempting and flavorful dishes from Punjabi Cuisine. One of the most preferred breakfast or snacks in the Northern parts of India. But this can also be served as lunch or dinner. A plate of scrumptious chole and soft bhature from this place is all you need for a satiating and filling lunch (had this for dinner). Truly blended Chhola with species resulting in over the top taste when you serve the first spoon of it to your overnight craving tongue. Bhatura comes well stuffed with Panner, no complaints about the amount of stuffing. How about pairing it with onions and some amla achar? Well, they serve that too!
🌼 Samosas- There is no better treat to go with your evening tea (even breakfast or midnight snack) than good-old samosas. The crispy, flavourful samosas are served with mint chutney and tamarind chutney. This amazing samosa paired with Tea makes for a perfect break.
🌼 Pani Puri- The mouth-watering taste of this tangy and spicy street snack will always remain my favourite. This round hollow puri is filled with onion, potato, and chickpeas. Served with a chilled glass of Tamarind water with a touch of mint. There is no way you can say no to this spicy sin.
🌼 Lassi- We all need a reason to keep ourselves hydrated and what better than heading down and Grabbing a glass of chilled lassi. The chilled lassi is served in earthen Glass or Kullad. Topped with nuts, pistachios, and spices which create a typhoon of flavours inside your mouth.
🌼 Gulab Jamun- Gulab jamun is the quintessential Indian sweet that is relished on every special occasion and is literally the best way to end your meal. The tempting, melt-in-your-mouth Gulab Jamun, which was an absolute delight! So when are you...
Read moreI went there yesterday after watching YouTube review from "Food Lovers TV". Initial impression was that the place is too small to accommodate kitchen, billing counter and the eating area. Nevertheless, all I wanted is some good food. Since, I have tasted few of the bests chole bhature places in Delhi, my hopes were high after watching the review.
After waiting for 40 minutes, finally the food arrives. 10 minutes of additional wait due to new Chole batch preparation. So, here are my honest thoughts about the food:
Bhature - Soft inside and crunchy outside, but there was hardly any paneer stuffing (order paneer bhatura), I hardly found few strands of grated paneer and I can count them as well.
Chole - I was watching the preparation of the chole batch and I saw that the guy who was preparing it was mixed up about what all spices he could add. There were other staff members asking him to add any random spices. This was not a good impression as I feel that the preparation of your highest selling dish has to be in a consistent manner. When I tasted it, I feel that it was tooooooo salty and the overall taste was decent (about average).
Lassi - Was good, nice flavor of cardamom topped with pistachio. But it wasn't thick to my liking and little too sweet.
Gulab Jamun - Nice but not prepared in Ghee and way too sweet as well.
Overall - average place as far as Delhi's authenticity is concerned but I like the fact that team was working hard. Owners are very good people and they listen to every feedback from customers which is good.
I would like this place to be successfully in long run because of the passionate owners but they need to maintain the consistency about the taste because it is easy to impress people in Bangalore about North...
Read moreAfter over 2 months of staying at home and no outside food. The first place after lockdown unlock I decided to check out Gopaljee Café. It was in my “To-Visit” list for many months and finally I could try their amazing food
As many know, this place is known for the chole bhature and I can’t emphasise enough on how good it was. Totally worth the hype!!
The bhature are soft, pillowy and fluffy. It’s stuffed with paneer and fennel seeds. The chole is lip smacking good. The aroma itself is very inviting and the taste even better. Simmered with spices for hours together, it has developed a complex flavour.
But if you’re going there, don’t stop at just the chole bhature because the chaats there are just as good. Aloo tikki chaat being my favourite there. It has a crispy exterior and fluffy centre and topped generously with Dahi, imli chutney and green chutney.
Samosa is to die for. Flaky crust that’s not too thick with a generous aloo filling served with delicious chutneys.
Mango lassi is another must try!!
The food reminded me of Delhi style street food and took me back to travel days in Delhi. I am so happy I found a place in Bangalore that lives up to that authenticity
Price was a steal for the quality and hygiene they provide I even asked them if their staff take regular tests and I was informed that all the staff were actually vaccinated which was great news to me!
Do give this place a try, you won’t be...
