Had been to Gowdru Mudde Mane on a Sunday for lunch, this is a must and should for all the food lovers especially non veg lovers. On the weekdays typical Gowda style vegetarian menu is available over here. Distance : From Mysore Road probably it was around 12-13 km which took us 24-26 mins. Ambience : Every room is named after a politician in Karnataka like DK Shivkumar, BS Yediyurappa and so on. We were in DK Shivkumar !! The place is clean ,neat and well maintained. The Menu is something very unique, try anything and you will absolutely love it. Kemdasampige is a chicken starter which kids enjoyed the most Chicken lollipop was so crispy crunchy and tasty Dhoom Tava Roast is a dish prepared of tail portion which was so soft tender and tasty, this was the first time that I ever tasted this food and it was worth it Mutton Karela is also something that one must try , that was so crispy Nati Koli biryani with the Raitha was also one of the kind with the nati eggs served as a part of biryani. Chicken kabab was also crispy and tender . Special Mention for the warm jeera water that was served with the food. We need not have to purchase mineral water as the boiled jeera water was much better. Nothing felt too spicy or oily or overcooked, everything was just right and perfect. The best part is the way everyone in the restaurant were so courteous. We had ordered one plate of kemdasampige , within a minute we received another plate of kendasampige with 2 pieces in that and we were surprised and said that we had ordered just one. Then the person who served us said that two pieces in our plate were small so he got us that extra !!! We also met the owner and he was polite , humble, greeting and thanking everyone who wished him. On a whole visiting this place is worth the...
Read moreThere’s a place tucked away with the audacity of a roadside dhaba and the soul of a forgotten grandmother’s kitchen — it’s called Gowder Mudde Mane, and it is nothing short of a glorious contradiction.
The Good: A Culinary Punch in the Face
Walk in and the food hits like a freight train in all the right ways. The mudde comes steaming, earthy, unapologetic. The gravies are rich in tradition, layered with spices that don’t ask for permission — they announce themselves. If you’re the type who believes good food should hug you one second and slap you the next, this kitchen delivers like a fever dream.
The Vibe: Rustic Theatre
The ambiance walks a tightrope between rural nostalgia and chaotic charm. It’s not polished — it’s alive. Wooden benches, clattering steel tumblers, aromas that cling to your clothes like gossip in a small town. You don’t just eat here… you experience it.
The Bad: Service That Breaks Your Spirit
Now let’s talk about service — if we can call it that. Orders drift aimlessly like lost boats. Staff move with either the urgency of a sloth or the aggression of a WWE tag team. You might wait. You might beg. You might question your life choices. And still — the food might arrive.
Verdict: Love Letter or Breakup Text?
Honestly? This place infuriates you while seducing you. You’ll swear you’ll never return… and then at 3 AM you'll find yourself dreaming of that gravy like a toxic ex you can’t quit.
Final Take (Bourdain-style): “Gowder Mudde Mane is that maddening dive where your taste buds ascend to godhood while your patience rots in purgatory. You’ll hate yourself for loving it — and love yourself for...
Read moreWent on a weekend for lunch with friends. No parking available, had to park 300mts away from the restaurant. They have moved from the previous building to a metal shed kind of set up. We got a table immediately upon reaching. We ordered quite a few mutton & chicken items. Mutton fry, spare parts, mutton nalli, mutton pulao, chicken biryani, Dhoom, dosa, Kheema Gojju, chicken kendasampige and so on. It was a mixed bag when it comes to food, we liked a few items and few were mediocre. Both biryani items were ok. Spare parts wasn't great. Coming to the price, we were taken aback by the price of some items. Nalli costed us ₹650 per plate which is ridiculous considering the quantity, quality and ambience of the place. Other items were priced at par with other restaurants. Since they haven't mentioned the prices anywhere on that boards or in the menu, it will come as a shock, so be sure to ask before ordering. I'll have to give it to them for the uniqueness of items in the menu. Some of them are unheard of and definitely not available in any restaurants I've been to. Service was quite slow. Some items came quickly, but most took time. Our waiter had to be told at least 4 times to get items like extra salad, curd etc. quite forgetful and sloppy. You can give this place a try once, but nothing really that'd make me...
