Hotel Imperial, a classic and historic restaurant located on Residency Road in Bangalore. The restaurant has been around since 1950, and it is one of the oldest dining establishments in the city. Despite its age, the restaurant has managed to maintain a loyal following and expand to ten or so outlets across Bangalore. The ambiance of the restaurant is simple and unpretentious, with minimalistic decor and comfortable seating arrangements. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the service is prompt and efficient. The menu at Hotel Imperial is diverse, featuring a mix of Kerala, Mughlai, and Chinese cuisine. The restaurant is well-known for its kebabs, ghee rice, grilled chicken, and special parathas. Must try are sholay kabab, which was perfectly deep fried and spiced to perfection. The butter chicken was another standout dish that was rich, creamy, and packed with flavor. The special imperial biriyani is also a hit, with tender pieces of meat and fragrant rice. I also like the Ceylon paratha, which was flaky, buttery, and delicious. The only downside is the fish, which is not as fresh as I would have liked in the many times I have dinned in there. However, this was a minor issue, and it did not detract from the overall quality of the food. I also appreciated the fact that the restaurant is open late into the night, making it a perfect spot for a late-night snack or meal. In terms of value for money, Hotel Imperial is reasonably priced, and the portions are generous. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for good food, friendly service, and a cozy ambiance. Overall, my experience at Hotel Imperial was always excellent, and I look forward to returning soon to try more of their delicious dishes and fell the old good times had here.

Imperial Restaurant on Church Street has a reputation, but based on my experience, it doesn’t live up to the expectations, especially when it comes to food quality. The fried rice, which should be a simple yet flavorful dish, was a major disappointment. It was not properly cooked, and full of hair in it 🤮🤢,lacked the right texture, and felt like it was just put together without much effort. Given the pricing, one would expect at least a decent meal, but unfortunately, the food was far from satisfying. Another downside is that they don’t offer portion-based servings, which means you have to order full portions even if you don’t need that much. This makes dining here less flexible, especially for those who prefer trying multiple dishes in smaller quantities. The pricing is on the higher side, and considering the food quality, it doesn’t feel like value for money. However, one positive aspect is the cleanliness of the restaurant. It is well-maintained, and the staff provides decent hospitality. But a clean space and good service can’t make up for food that isn’t enjoyable. Overall, I’d rate it a 3 out of 10—average at best, but not a place I’d be eager to visit again unless they improve their food.

Imperial is a synonym for Bangalore, just as the Bangalore weather. Since it's near Residency Road, Brigade Road is adjacent to it. Way back, in the days after school or during my time at Josephs's, we would have lunch at Imperial because of the proximity to the school or College. Hence, today, I had the nostalgia of having their traditional Ghee rice and Imperial's special Chicken Kabab and telling my wife a piece of the restaurant's story. We decided to go to the place for lunch. However, since we had come from different location and were both starving, I could not capture a video or photographs of what we ordered, which I usually take. I was probably so indulged in telling her my story that I forgot to take them. We ordered the Sweet Corn Chicken Soup, then Ghee Rice, which hasn't changed a bit, and the Chicken Kabab, which was brilliant; we ordered Chicken Fried Rice, which was eventful and Chilly Prawns, which more or less looked like Prawns Manchurian, and the taste was medium. Overall, I enjoyed the food; however, I feel the place needs to be renovated on the ground floor.

"Hotel Imperial" is a well-known name in Bangalore, but it's important to differentiate between its restaurant and its lodging services, which sometimes have different names. While there's a popular and long-standing Imperial Restaurant on Residency Road, the hotel aspect is often associated with other properties like Hotel Empire International - Church Street (which is just off Residency Road) and Imperial Residency (a different hotel, often located in HSR Layout). Based on the information available for these different properties, here is a consolidated report. Imperial Restaurant, Residency Road • Type: Primarily known as a restaurant, a legendary food chain in Bangalore. • Specialty: It is a household name for its North Indian and Chinese cuisine, particularly the "Imperial Kebab" and biryanis. • Ambiance: The restaurant's interior is often described as elegantly designed with a cozy and refined atmosphere. • Operating Hours: It is known for its late-night service, often open until the early hours of the morning. • Customer Reviews: Food reviews are mixed, with some praising the taste and quality, while others have had negative experiences regarding service or food quality. Hotel Empire International - Church Street This hotel is located just off Residency Road on Church Street, a very popular and central area in Bangalore. It is a more established hotel property. • Location: Its prime location is its strongest feature. It's a short walk from major commercial and entertainment hubs like Brigade Road, M.G. Road, and the metro stations. This makes it highly convenient for tourists and business travelers alike. • Amenities: The hotel offers standard facilities including air-conditioned rooms, free Wi-Fi, a private bathroom, and a 24-hour front desk. It has an on-site restaurant serving Indian, Continental, and Chinese dishes. • Guest Feedback: Reviews are generally positive, with high praise for the location, friendly staff, and value for money. However, some guests have noted that the rooms can feel a bit cramped. There have also been past reports of renovation noise, but this is not a consistent issue. Imperial Residency (HSR Layout) This is a separate property and should not be confused with the Residency Road location. It is situated in HSR Layout, a different part of Bangalore. • Type: Described as a guest house or homestay, with a focus on providing a comfortable, home-like experience. • Location: Located in HSR Layout, which is a new and fast-developing suburb in the southeast of Bangalore. This area is known for its IT parks, gardens, and quiet environment. • Amenities: Offers a limited number of rooms, a caretaker, a dining area, and a kitchen. Amenities often include free Wi-Fi, a work desk, and on-site parking. • Customer Reviews: Reviews for this property are varied, often praising the quiet environment and the caretaker service. Summary If you are looking for Hotel Imperial on Residency Road, it's most likely referring to the famous restaurant. For accommodation, the most relevant option in that area is Hotel Empire International on the adjacent Church Street. This hotel is a good choice for travelers who prioritize a central location and easy access to the city's main attractions, shopping, and nightlife. The property offers a good balance of location and value, although guests should manage expectations regarding room size and potential maintenance issues that may be present due to the...

5years ago while visiting Bangalore my wife and I happened to find this "KOHINOOR" by accident.

As we entered we saw it was frequented by ,what most would call ordinary folk!!

A gentleman approached us and with utmost concern showed us into ,what he said was a family room.

The slowly rotating chickens in the rottiserie kept outside was the reason for me entering into Imperial Hotel.

We tried the grilled chicken and a Fried King Fish. WE WERE SPEECHLESS There are times when food does that to me ,meat was fresh ,moist and the skin perfectly crisp. Chicken is basically a very tasteless meat ,but boy ,Imperial had turned that saying on its head.

The king fish was so fresh ,it seemed they had just caught it. Yes the brain masala ,not for the faint hearted was a delight.

We visited Bangalore again in Dec 2022 ,this time to meet my friend of over 45 years John. John is settled in Seattle, belongs to one of the most respected family's of Bangalore. His father Late C S Samuel many say was the founder of what Bangalore now calls"Brookefields"

Cut to Dec 2022 ,visited Imperial Hotel again , they had grown, why wouldn't they ? They give you great food at a great price ,day in day out.

This time I was pleasantly surprised to see they served the food on banana leaves ..touche!

The grilled chicken with the sauce and red onion salad tasted just the same. HOW DO THEY DO IT!!?? The soft Kerala Parathas, were a new find for us this time.

Once again the same gentleman was there ,it was a PLEASURE to see him again.

The ever friendly staff suggested I try the Pepper Brain Masala Fry ,soft balls with pepper and the aroma of Curry leaves ,...
