The Gmap location is wrong. Oko is at The Lalit Ashok hotel, which is further up the same road. I'd suggested an edit for the Gmap location but doesn't matter now coz I really wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Here's why: At the entrance of the restaurant were two bouncers who blocked or way in and very rudely asked us for our tags. That obviously left us confused and on asking what tags, a manager type fellow at the counter nearby asked if we've come for the night party in some bar upstairs. We said no, we've come to dine at Oko and we even had a reservation. Only then did those bouncers move aside. We found that an extremely rude and terrible way to greet guests. We then enter the restaurant and find that it is so dimly lit! That too low red lighting with black decor! Such poor lighting that we could barely see what we were eating or even each other! The whole place was deserted. Had to wait 5 to 10 minutes to see a server walk out of the kitchen to even ask for a menu and order. Only one server the entire time and only one other table occupied on a Sunday evening. That should have tipped us off then itself about how good the restaurant is. Extremely limited menu (entire thing fit in 2 sides of a page) and even lesser choice for vegetarians. Another half an hour wait to get a couple of starters out. Soup came even later than the starters after asking them to cancel it coz it was taking too long! So so miso soup. Was just a few vegetables and tofu pieces in miso broth which couldn't have taken longer than a few minutes to make! Dimsum was alright but we had to specifically ask for and then wait again for the dipping sauces after the dimsum was served, in which time they obviously went cold. Basic common sense to keep all the dipping sauces ready before opening the dimsum box to serve! Only good dish was a steamed silken tofu starter with chilli garlic sauce which I asked the chef to customize for us coz I wanted something spicy and not deep fried. Why no photos of the food you ask? Coz the lighting was too dim to even take pictures! The drinks menu was some temp looking menu printed on A4 sheets. Again very limited mocktail and cocktail range that we didn't feel like ordering from. We were so disappointed with the whole experience (decor, service and food) that we didn't bother ordering any mains or dessert. Went to Shang palace nearby for the rest of the meal. For a hotel like Lalit Ashok, didn't expect such poor service and food! Definitely not...
Read moreWe decided to visit Oko when we saw that there was a 50% off offer through Zomato Gold Carnival. When we reached, we were informed that it was closed but when we informed them that we had a booking, we were allowed to have dinner.
We started with the soup. Before it was delivered, we were given nachos as an appetizer I guess which was quite tasty. We then had a Miso Prawn soup which was also nice.
For starters, we had Jirou Jicai Jio dumplings and Kai Takrai chicken, both of which were very nice.
For the main course, we had the Chicken Phad Thai. I also wanted to try the rice, so we packed a Khao Phad Kaprao fried rice which we had yesterday. The rice tasted great but the Phad Thai had something lacking. That was the only item we weren't completely satisfied by.
The lighting was very dim, perhaps because the restaurant was supposed to be closed. Our server Mr Shyamal was very helpful and a pleasure to interact with. Overall, we had a very nice experience apart from...
Read moreI wish could give minus. I went to this place and no one even bothered to attend me. So I myself have to call the guy to place my order. After I ordered the food after almost an hour nothing arrived at my table. After asking again and again still the food didn't arrive. And I have to leave the place without having my food. Pathetic service. I would have understood if the place would have been crowded but it was not the case. I would like to say that guys you have your place in lalit Ashok, please maintain the name of the brand and more importantly atleast try to serve food or water when someone is at...
