Dined with partner this evening (5th August).
The croquettes (cheese/jalapeno/mashed potato) were so hard and disappointing. I recommend the restaurant folks try 'arancini' to understand what it must taste like. The filling was sticky and dense and the crust was definitely double or triple fried for it to turn out so hard.
The Calzone was good. Liked it.
The starter - focaccia with tomato paste and cheese, was just ordinary. Cheese was skimpy.
Gelato (Italian strawberry) was very milky and half melted. I suggested that the server try Gelato at Milano, which is priced at a fifth of this price and much more authentic.
Service - very slow. We were told that a Calzone took only 3 minutes to bake. But it came out 20 minutes later. Between dishes we had to wait 15-20 minutes at the least, which was excruciating. And what was worst was that a 10% service fee was slapped on the bill. Usually this fee is applied to a party of 4 or more, but they applied it to just the two of us. When we asked about it we were told, "if you don't like our service, we'll take it out; the menu says that such an optional fee can be added". Firstly, it is stated in super-tiny print at the bottom of the menu, purposefully, of course. Secondly, if it is optional, then we should be asked whether we'd like for such a fee to be added to the bill. But no, the 10% service was added for a less than mediocre slow service. After the first item was consumed, one of the servers came to take the plates. We said we didn't mind eating the next course in the same plate. He said their policy was to replace the plates after each course, so we obliged. But when the next course arrived, no plates were brought; we ate the second and third course by having to grab plates from the next seats. And, ironically, for such a service, a so-called "optional fee" was added without checking with us.... Caution - Please check your bills when you...
Read moreI had been curious about this place ever since it opened because I pass by it every day on my way back from work. Finally, I visited about a week after its launch.
Ambience & Service: The ambience is nice and visually appealing. The restaurant was almost full when I arrived, with only a couple of tables left. They have a surprisingly large number of servers—probably more than necessary—but despite that, our starters didn’t arrive together. Each of the three starters we ordered came at different times, which was a bit annoying.
Food Experience: We tried starters, a pizza, and dessert. • Starters: I ordered the jalapeño cheese balls, which were disappointing. The outer layer was very hard and felt double-fried, like they were refried after being pre-cooked. Overall, not enjoyable. • Pizza: This was the best part of the meal, but even then, I’ve had better pizzas elsewhere. It was decent, but not something I’d rave about. • Dessert: We tried their signature tiramisu. Honestly, it was average at best and didn’t live up to the hype.
Pricing & Overall Impression: The bill felt on the higher side for the quality of food served. Overall, the experience was underwhelming. This is definitely a “visit once out of curiosity” kind of place for me, and I don’t see...
Read moreTried out Si Nonna's a few weeks back. I had gone in with very high expectations, having heard great things about their pizzas. Lovely ambience and very warm staff (may be a bit too warm). The pricing I found to be on the higher side than what I had anticipated. And would've preferred names of pizzas instead of numbers. The pizza service was good but had to wait a very long time for my Affogato. I ordered a Margherita, of course, to try out the crust and sauce. Both were superb but more in line with what I've had at Pizzerias that operate at this price point. It didn't stand out. What did stand out was them skimping on cheese and not skimping on the amount of olive oil on the pizza. Would've preferred the portions switched. Overall, a good experience but not a great one, the delay took away quite a bit. Would give it a try again for...
