Not My first time to Suryawanshi, definitely not my first time to this outlet, this place has been my go to place when I crave for some authentic Maharashtrian cuisine. It have been to other outlets in Sarjapur and Whitefield, which are a little upmarket in terms of space & seating. But nothing compared to this outlet, which is as rustic as Mumbai is, a little cramped but still serving the most delicious cuisine, transporting you to Maharashtra.
I have always been a vegetarian when I visited all the times before, but this time I went on my non-vegetarian day, for a nice lunch in a mildly warm Bangalore afternoon, with a friend.
I bet some interesting and curious conversations, we managed to devour a plate of Misal Pav and Keema Pav.
The Misal as always was fantastic, fabulous, flavoursome, simply retreating the best of Maharashtra in Namma Bengaluru.
The Sol Kadhi is something that I love across all the outlets, this one is no exception, beautifully made, slight sour, delicious pink drink that I gulped a couple down throughout the meal.
My first time trying Keema Pav, it was just perfect. Beautiful meat flavours, accentuated by authentic maharashtrian spices, a little too hot, but I absolutely loved the heat, with the bowl almost getting slurped down with the pav. This is the recommended dish for Keema lovers, and am already dreaming about what other combinations I can pair with this delicious Keema, maybe rice, chapati, or with a take away some Kerala Parota, Pulao, Roti, Naan, and what not.
Both the portions were huge, that we could not go for their signature Thalis, after this heavy snack. So decided to order a couple of starters with chapati.
The vegetarian selection was a Baingan Masala and Jowar Roti. For my non-vegetarian selection, I opted for Chicken Sukka and Prawns Sukka with a chapati.
The Baingan Masala was very well made with the eggplant being celebrated in a great Masala, with the gravy going well with the slightly dry Jowar Roti.
Both the Chicken Sukka & Prawns Sukka was absolutely well made, beautifully seasoned, the prawns extremity fresh, if I wasn’t full, I could have easily ordered some rice and mixed up the semi gravy and devoured it in seconds.
Offcourse we ended up with a Amrakhand and shared the delicious goodness. Absolutely rich and creamy cold dessert that can represent the best of India to the world, especially this version here at Suryawanshi.
If you crave for Maharashtrian cuisine, Suryawanshi is probably the only place you can get some authentic goodness in Namma Bengaluru. Suryawanshi is where I head for my Misal cravings and now Keema cravings, and...

Being a Maharashtrian, we are extremely disappointed with food and services provided here and we are not sure if this is really authentic Maharashtrian food. This is my 3rd visited there, but today's was worst experience that compelled me to write such long review: There is more than half an hour of waiting time for order as they are not entertaining the customer in Restaurant rather they are just BUSY in MAKING BUSINESS FOR ONLINE ORDER. This is terribly bad and trust me they don't bother if anyone out of frustration leave the restaurant because of such wait time. Off the order, they even don't complete the plate and served HALF COMPLETED DISH of what we ordered. In Mutton thali, the chappati were with lot of burnt flour that too with oil had completely BURNT FLAVOUR. In Mutton thali, the main ingredient Mutton is served in such shallow plate that if we eat chappati with mutton gravy, you will not have gravy remaining for rice. By the way, rice was also NOT SERVED by them in thali and while billing, they said.. was rice really not served..?? One of BIGHEST DISAPPOINTING & DISGUSTING THING is the WASH BASIN which is so close to one of table that if someone washes there hand, it spatters in your dish which was exactly what further happened today. MISAL PAV (which is proud dish of Maharashtra) anywhere in Maharashtra is much better than the Misal that is served here in Suryavanshi Restaurant. It's just LOT OF OIL AND ABSOLUTELY NO TASTE. Further after serving you after WAIT TIME MORE THAN HALF AN HOUR for ready dish like misal pav, they will not come second time if you need rasa or anything else. Pav quality was very dry and looked very rough.
This is to be noted that this restaurant is actually CHARGING WELL HIGH against which services and quality are very very disappointing and even the STAFF DOESN'T BOTHER where things are going wrong and why people are leaving even after giving order and out of all above, unfortunately we left with more than half plate unfinished which happened first time with us and this is first time I took such effort in giving review. This is genuine feedback where the restaurant could look forward for...
Read moreSuryawanshi was in my bucket list for a long time as there is a scarcity of authentic Maharashtrian restaurants in the city. So one fine evening 3 of us went for a casual dinner after work. This Indiranagar outlet is a tiny one with 4-5 table, with a maximum capacity of 20 people. So if you are planning for a group outing, reserve in advance.
Now coming to food, we started off with one of my most favorite and quintessential Maharasthiran snacks Sabudana vada. It was served hot and the fine texture of sagu with a tangible crispness made it one of the best dishes we tried here. next up, we had spicy and mouth-watering egg bhurji pav. We were so overwhelmed that we ordered one non-veg derivative of it: keema pav. a tad bit disappointed with the taste of the keema. It was somewhat undercooked and didn't please us at all.
For the main course, we ordered Splendid mutton thali, my favorite Prawn sukkha, and masala bhagda fish fry .. Succulent prawns were perfectly cooked in rich coconut-based gravy of sukkha ... Thaali was a hit, we loved the mutton dishes viz. Mutton Keema, Mutton Kholapuri curry and Mutton Sukkha. last but not the least, two surprise item in store for you which come with the thaali, i.e:... two most famous rassa. One was a spicy red Tambda rassa and the other was fiery white Pandhra Rassa. Both of them had the potential to be the just had on its own like a tasty soup.
We ended our dinner with a huge Purranpolli and Shrikhand... both of them were pleasant...
