I was out celebrating "Mother's Day" with my Mom and Bro when i stumbled upon this place. I should be really thankful to my stars for finding me a table here on a late Sunday evening. I was really disappointed when i didn't receive confirmation for my table reservation in their other outlet (which is just up the same road) despite having waited for half an hour. Not to blame them but the crowd was maddening. This unit is smaller than the former but luck was on my side when i decided to check for table availability when i was en route to another Punjabi restaurant.
Ambiance: Tiny yet Elegant. This place captivates you with its decor and wall art. Loved the way they have portrayed the historical paintings on their wall. Place is well lit and ventilated.
Food & Drinks: We ordered
Chandni Kabab: This was the Winner for me. The chicken was perfectly marinated with the masala, spices and cooked to beyond perfect. Highly recommended dish.
Lohari Bhatti Ki Murgh ( Tandoori Chicken ) : Another lip smacker from their tandoor, this dish will fill you with joy. Loved the char and flavor of the chicken along with the smokiness of the tandoor. This was comparatively less spicy.
Kadai Murgh Patiala: Portions of tender chicken in a not so spicy gravy with adequate mix of flavor and right seasoning.
Dal Makhani: A must order dish. This had all the key ingredients you anticipate in a Punjabi dish. It scored good on taste, thickness and texture.
Lachcha Paratha, Tandoori Roti and Butter Garlic Naan were all served hot and crisp.
The Shikanji was really light and refreshing. Not too sweet or salty.
The Lassi is as always a renowned drink in every Punjabi restaurant that you visit. This place is no exception. What a beautiful drink this is. Its served in a terracotta glass and topped with chopped almonds, pista and nuts. Highly recommended.
Service and Value: Service was good, Staff were amicable and the dishes were a total value for money even though they appear pricey. Will definitely visit them when i'm in the mood for some authentic...
Read moreWe planned a family get together at 'Tandoori Taal' last week, to satisfy our Punjabi food cravings. 'Tandoori Taal' was a recommendation that came through one of our friends and when we reached the place, was equally in a awe and dilemma as to how could I miss the place, especially since I would visited the 12th Main road umpteen number of times during the last three years of my stay in Bangalore. Nevertheless, good things sometimes come late in life and this was probably one of those.
Loved the ambiance of the place, a very feel good place with a great Punjabi feel to it. From the rustic wooden door through which you enter the hall, the traditional bangles hanging through the wooden frame, colored glass lamps, pastel walls with hand paintings, the food bogey, live kitchen, water well with earthen / copper pots, the lambretta scooter - every this is so beautiful !
The highlight was indeed the food, certainly the best Punjabi food I have had in Bangalore ever since my stay. While we ordered a lot of delicacies (which were all very delicious), we unanimously loved thir 'Peshawari Pudina Paneer Tikka', 'Bharwan Lazzez Kumbh', 'Handi Sabzi', 'Palak Paneer' and 'Dal Makhni'. We also were impressed with their 'Jeera Rice' (prepared fresh in desi ghee and served in a bone-china handi) and the choice of breads.
The service was also superb, very prompt with a captain dedicated to our table. Thee staff is very courteous and treats kids and elders alike, with a lot of warmth and respect.
Would highly recommend 'Tandoori Taal' to one and all, a must visit place...
Read moreAs someone deeply rooted in Delhi and with a profound love for authentic Punjabi cuisine, I ventured to Tandoori Taal on Indiranagar's 12th Main with immense anticipation. Reviews had painted a promising picture, Unfortunately, what I encountered was a stark letdown, both in terms of service etiquette and the quality of the food.
I began with the Veg Seekh Kebab for a starter. To my utter disbelief, these kebabs were hard and devoid of any flavour.
A kebab, by its very nature, should be succulent, soft, and melt-in-your-mouth. These were dried out the moment they left the tandoor, lacking any hint of the essential butter dressing that brings a kebab to life. Also, i could smell the gram flour which means it was not cooked from inside. It truly made me question the chef's understanding of Punjabi cooking.
Next up was the main course: Rara Chicken with Butter Garlic Naan. The Rara Chicken was, at best, average. The rich, aromatic masala that defines this dish seemed to have lost its soul, lacking the depth of flavor one expects from a well-prepared Punjabi curry.
Then came the Butter Garlic Naan – a seemingly foolproof item in authentic Punjabi cuisine. It was noticeably dry, one lack of butter and or, more likely, had not been given the ample resting time for dough.
For a Punjabi foodie like myself, Tandoori Taal was a significant letdown. It failed to deliver on the fundamental promises of Punjabi cuisine, leaving me longing for the true...
