Third Wave Coffee — Restaurant in Bengaluru

I have reviewed Third Wave's Koramangala branch before, and the only reason I choose to review the Indiranagar outlet as well is because not enough good can be said about this place. I had been eagerly waiting for them to bless Indiranagar with their presence, and they literally gave us a Christmas gift by opening shop there on that day.

So now for the uninitiated, Third Wave is essentially a coffee brewery, and they're bloody brilliant at what they do. Among cafes, it's as refreshing as the smell of your first morning coffee. And if you've had Third Wave coffee first thing in the morning, you'll know what I mean. They've upped their game in terms of seating, with more space now and better work areas, and the fresh coffee smell just adds to the already soothing ambiance.

You must refer to my older third wave review for specifics, but as I've said before, you must try something new that you haven't before, in terms of both coffee and it's preparation method, and you must also ask how it's made - they'll be happy to show you. Let it all grow on you, for some it may take time, but it's about finding that flavour that's right for you.

Try their Flat Breads, their Espresso Cake, and their Cinnamon Roll for sure. In the cold coffees, Vietnamese Shakerato and Cold Fashioned are a must-try.

An absolutely fantastic place to grab a coffee and some food and work out of.

Ambience: (5/5) Full marks here for the fact that this is one of the most functional coffee shops around. This is fundamentally because there are a bunch of tables of different seating capacity and arranged in a way to almost support meetings and work. Over and above that the coffee shop is littered with plug points making it a great place to have your laptop out and work. The lighting is bright and the wifi is fast. Nothing more that is needed at all.

Food and Coffee: (5/5) The have a beautiful set of brews here and many of them are from specific farms which allow for it to be a single original blend. Makes for a consistent flavour to the coffee. There are rich aromatic coffees on offer here making it a coffee lover’s paradise. The fact that there are also multiple ways each are made also adds to the experience. The food here is brilliant, from the Indian omelette to the smoothie bowl, this place has an excellent chef behind the wheel. The flavours were fantastic in the smoothie and the addition of the chia seeds and nuts made it a really healthy breakfast option. The omelette was made extremely well and the salt of the hash brown balanced the entire plate very well.

I have been ordering roasted beans now for a while. Mainly medium-dark roast for milk based preparations. Very good quality beans... Beautiful, sweet flavour profile (El diablo) and works excellently for me both in french press & espresso machine. Mouth feel is quite good. Why 3 stars: both in-store purchase & online orders, I always receive beans that were roasted 3-4 weeks ago. When I open the pack, I don't smell anything...it might as well be cardboard pellets! Claiming to provide the third-wave, gourmet coffee experience, I sincerely wish the team focuses on the freshness of the roast. When everything is going well like selecting/blending/roasting, this long storage takes away the "fresh" olfactory experience. I won't be able to try any light roasts or morning blends if they have, which has been stored this long after roasting. Nowadays, with data analytics indicating and predicting sales of different beans, they can think about small batch roasting or if possible, roast on-demand with small roasters (this might be difficult, but small batch should be doable). Also, vacuum packing in moisture proof aluminium foil or equivalent should help in retaining freshness as against the current paper bags. I'm not sure they are moisture-proof.
