Toast and Tonic in Bengaluru has been a go to place for many of us ever since it’s inception. The ambiance of the place is very nice and the staff is super friendly as well. Getting a seat here is tough sometimes as more often than not they are full. They offer some of the best Gin cocktails in the city and it is totally worth checking them out. We decided to celebrate our Valentine’s Day here and it sure was a beautiful experience. We had the following while we were at Toast & Tonic. We tried the Beefeater Vanillin which consisted of Gin, Vanilla and Cinnamon Tonic Water, and served with a Pear – Spiced Ice. The type of Gin can be chosen from a wide variety of choices, I decided to go with Beefeater. This drink was very refreshing and was absolutely smooth as well. The second drink we had was a Lemon Grass & Basil Mojito which had a lot of crushed ice but was at the same time a very refreshing drink as well. This is a white rum based cocktail. The quantity was quite less though for the price that we had to pay for it. For starters we had the Hot Potted Prawn & Chorizo, this is not a hot pot dish though as they have mentioned on their menu. The sautéed chorizo goes perfectly well with the prawns in garlic and lemon, served with garlic butter panini. This dish was a surprise to us, as the prawns swept our feet away, the taste was so enriching that we could not stop eating this dish. It is an absolute must to try this out while you are at Toast & Tonic. For mains, we had the Fried Chicken Sandwich. In this context, the sandwich is basically a burger, the buttermilk steeped chicken, with in house burger sauce, bread and butter pickles, and also brioche milk buns were an absolute hit. The Fried Chicken was so soft and not at all chewy making it easy to have the burger, the sauce was mind blowing, and the buns were so fluffy and soft. A truly American delight at Toast & Tonic. The Asian style Spicy Smoked Chicken was our choice for flatbreads. These flatbreads are their take on the concept of pizzas and they truly are very authentic and super tasty. The jalapeno, garlic, chives, and their in house chicken was the perfect combination that one needs on their flatbreads. Not a single piece was overcooked or roasted making it an absolute delightful experience. We finished our time at Toast & Tonic with Karma Sutra which was a Choco based gooey brownie with vanilla ice cream. They have valet parking and the staff are super friendly and they know the menu very well. The ambiance is very nice and spacious. The food they offer is very unique and everyone should try out their dishes. You can find them at 14/1, Wood Street, Ashok Nagar, Richmond Road, Bangalore. Budget Corner Beefeater Vanillin – 685 INR Lemon Grass and Basil Mojito – 535 INR Fried Chicken Sandwich – 540 INR Karma Sutra – 360 INR Asian Style Spicy Smoked Chicken – 555 INR Hot Potted Prawn and Chorizo – 565 INR Average cost for two people would be 3500 – 4000 INR.

I had the cocktail Birdie in Wonderland, as its description appealed to me the most. There is also a full menu on gin based cocktails. The Birdie in Wonderland cocktail presents itself with a visually striking pink hue, clear and inviting, served over ice. The dried pineapple garnish not only adds a touch of elegance but also infuses the drink with a sweet, enticing aroma that sets the stage for the experience to come. Upon the first sip, the cocktail reveals a predominantly sweet profile with a slight bitter edge, complemented by a low-key flowery aroma. Despite its smooth texture, Birdie in Wonderland delivers a surprising kick, with a high alcohol content that makes its presence known. The flavors are subtle and not particularly complex, reminiscent of the straightforward simplicity often associated with a college dorm setting. This simplicity, however, does not detract from the drink's charm; instead, it adds to its approachable nature. The cocktail's light texture makes it easy to sip, while a subtle bitter edge provides just enough contrast to balance the sweetness. This balance is one of Birdie in Wonderland's strengths, making it an ideal choice for lively, boisterous gatherings where the drink can be appreciated for its straightforward yet potent character. In summary, Birdie in Wonderland is a well-balanced cocktail that combines visual appeal with a sweet and subtly aromatic profile. Its high alcohol content and smooth delivery make it a perfect companion for festive occasions, where its simplicity and kick can be fully enjoyed.

Took a break from Indian cuisine and had a date night dinner with my sister this week @toastandtonic She’s a new mum like me - our babes are only one week apart ! So it was all the more meaningful for us to get this precious time together. @toastandtonic is one of my sisters favourite restaurants in Bangalore and I can totally understand why. Everything about this place is fab - the location, ambience, menu and the cocktails! Think East Village New York vibes, that’s the look and feel they are going for. A European menu that utilises local ingredients with an eclectic gin and tonic menu. In fact they make all their tonics in house. I enjoyed their classic gin cocktail called the Herbalist - an Orange and Basil Tonic served with Coriander and Orange Ice over your choice of gin. I choose to try a local gin @hapusagin that uses foraged Himalayan Juniper and locally sourced botanicals. It is truly delicious! Also tried the Jalapeño Hopper - a heady mix of gin and jalapeño spiced tonic that was fiery yet restrained and elegant at the same time! Yum! We shared three things from the menu - The Chicken Liver Pate, The Soft Eggs and Andouille Sausage and the Soft Shell Crab in Singapore Chilli Sauce. All three dishes were flavourful, beautifully presented and super delicious. My favourite undoubtedly the liver pate. Thanks @toastandtonic for a lovely evening - I can really understand why this is such a loved Bangalore venue.
