Visited for a Sunday lunch. The restaurant has two separate areas – one is the self-service non-air conditioned area at the entrance, and the other is further inside which is the air conditioned service hall. The latter is less exposed to the road and the dust, and we found it to be also less crowded due to which we got a table easily.
We ordered mushroom pepper dry (which was great!), two North Indian meals (regular not deluxe), khara bath, one plate set dose (three pieces), and kesari bath. The kesari bath we were told is white in colour on Sundays and yellow in colour on all other days. As we visited on a Sunday, it was white.
I didn’t get the North Indian meal for myself but was told it is a 4/5 in taste. I tried the soup included in the meal which however I didn’t enjoy as it was too sweet.
The set dose were served with sagu and coconut chutney. I asked for sambar. None were great. I have had way better chutney-sambar, and I could not enjoy the dose without a good chutney-sambar. The chutney didn’t seem fresh and the sambar just wasn’t great in taste. The kesari bath on the other hand felt tooo sticky and had a weird texture. As it was my first time eating khara bath in Bengaluru I can’t quite assess it comparatively but I liked it. Overall not a very fantastic restaurant find. Service is great, but taste can be made better.
Total price for the lunch was INR 767. However, please mind that prices in the air conditioned hall might be a little more than that in the non-air...
Read moreIt's newly opened restaurant on RT Nagar main road. It's broad entrance and huge self service seating arrangement is usually attracts any passer by who is looking for a restaurant.
It's a typical Udupi style restaurant with quiet basic ambience. It's most appreciable part is, it offers seating option for self service wing which is not available in the area. It also offers Air conditioned service wing at the back. It has good amenities of drinking water, hand wash and toilet.
Service is really quick especially in the parcel counter. Though it's a new restaurant, staffs are well trained and don't mismatch the order. They assign right priority and serve with pleasure.
Food: I tried Vada Sambar which was good. The taste of the sambar was true to its Udupi origin. But I wish vada could have been more crisper. Then I tried Masale dose which was quiet good but could have been better in taste. However the chutney supplied with it wasn't Spicy at all and it appeared very bland to me. There is a lot of room for improvement in the quality of food if they want to sustain in this business for long term.
Hygiene is good all over the place. It offers very limited parking for two wheelers and four wheelers should park at their own risk as it's a tow away zone.
FINAL VERDICT: It's a good alternative for all known restaurants in the...
Read moreHave been here on two occasions and am sure there wouldn't be a third. It's over crowded and customer management needs to be relooked. On first occasion, ordered two south meal. But the only problem was rice wasn't ready. My question is if food wasn't ready why even issue a token at first place and make customers wait for 54 mins (yes you read that right) close to an hour? The trouble didn't end there after taking the parcel home I realised the second pack of rice was missing (only one pack of rice was provided although two meals were ordered) must have forgotten to pack maybe. But I don't want to find out because even the second experience wasn't great. In the morning arrived here for a quick breakfast. Food was readied this time but the amount of salt was over the limit in the stew (guess the chef never tasted what he makes). Am sorry, but I won't be...
