Should I say average or rather overrated. Dinner at Hodol’s was rather a waste of money. If you see the photos attached, the food might look pretty enticing but it was rather bland and distasteful. Let’s start with the milkshake, priced at approx. 250 bucks, could be the worst chocolate milkshake I have had in my life. Next up, cheesy garlic bread is a staple at a cafe and one can’t go wrong with it and neither did they. Up next, was our mains, Baked fish with cheesy garlic sauce and Grilled Chicken with whiskey caper sauce. Let’s keep the fancy sauces (more like outsourced dips) aside and discuss the mere basics, fish and chicken. The fish was undercooked and had no flavour or taste of its own, it was red from inside, can you tell me what that should mean? The chicken dish was even worse, the steak knife couldn’t do justice to it, that’s how chewy and rubber like it was. You would take a few minutes, forget seconds, to chew a mouthful. Atleast the dip in the fish dish was bearable, but the whiskey caper sauce was everything a dish of disappointment looks like. My jaws could be well hurting right now. Each costed a hefty 400 bucks INR. Coming to the ambience and decor, very very very basic. Painted walls and wires, some paintings here and there of the owner and so on. The chairs were uncomfortable and tables greasy. In this price you could very well eat at any moderately well-known café in South Kolkata and digest the food that very night. Take my advice, spend money on petrol and drive down there, avoid this place.

In this age when a new café pops up at every corner each new day, HODOL’s is like a breath of fresh air. It has got this Clubhouse vibe which we all know used to be an integral part of the Bangali Culture. It’s unlike any other café I’ve been to. Maybe because it doesn’t want to be just any other cafe. There is innovation in food, the vision is not only good food but to bring the long lost club culture back. Usually the usp of a new café is their food, but the I feel HODOL’s usp is their hospitality. The entire staff is very friendly. They’ll make sure you’re content. Lastly, while visiting any new place I’m sceptical about how the food is gonna be. But, let me tell you HODOL’s doesn’t disappoint in that department either. Now a days, all cafés mainly focus on only being Instagram-able. HODOL’s, while obviously being Instagram-able has a strong kitchen staff. You’ll have a new found love for café food. Also, the vibe on match days is unlike any other I’ve witnessed. Mad mad crowd. I think it’s fair to say that HODOL’s is my new comfort place. Also, did I mention that they have live music?

Hodol's Cafe in Salt Lake, Kolkata, is a fantastic spot for food lovers and music enthusiasts alike. The ambiance is warm and inviting, with a unique rock music theme that adds a nostalgic charm to the place. The decor, featuring portraits of legendary musicians, sets the perfect mood for a relaxed and enjoyable dining experience. The menu is diverse, offering a great mix of continental, Italian, and fusion dishes. Their Grilled Chicken in Whiskey Caper Sauce and Blueberry Cheesecake are absolute must-tries! The quality of food is excellent, with fresh ingredients and well-balanced flavors. The service is friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant visit. Whether you're looking for a cozy café to catch up with friends or a vibrant place to enjoy great music and delicious food, Hodol’s Cafe is an excellent choice. Highly recommended for a memorable dining experience!

Don’t go by the celebrity owner’s cafe. They can harass you in anyway. We are cheated by them. We visited the cafe and have some food. While paying the bill, we tried paying through upi, but unfortunately the upi app shows as processing and the money was neither deducted from our account nor credited in their account. One of the waiter of the cafe assured us that we can pay by cash/card, and if they received the previous money(which was sent through upi) then they will return back the money immediately. We paid the amount by cash and left. 2 days later, the money got deducted from our account and credited to cafe’s account. We called them up and ask them to return the money as discussed earlier. And from then the harassment started. The waiter said that he cannot return any money we need to go to the cafe again any have food worth the money. We told them that it is not possible and we can’t visit the cafe. They denied to return the money. We followed up with them for about 1-1.5 months but all in vain. After 1.5 Month, we visited the cafe again and asked for the money. The same waiter said that he cant give the money back and we need to have take food to adjust the amount. After a tough fight with the waiter we finally managed to get our money back. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO PAY THE EXACT AMOUNT AND ONLY BY CASH. OTHERWISE BE READY TO FACE THE HARASSMENT. Waiter Name:...

Went there for the very first time. This place had a very cosy, pleasant and cheerful ambiance, with a soft music playing in the background. We scanned the QR code to get the menu, but all the items were not getting loaded properly there, thus their staff gave us the offline menu booklet. We ordered: 1)Cafe Frappe, Hazelnut Cappucino, Irish Coffee - The Irish Coffee just lifted my mood up, it was sooo good. I ordered it for the 2nd time to keep my happy feelings go on with the flow 2)Chicken Cheese Sandwich (served with a bunch of french fries) - Quite delicious 3)Hodol's fish and chips - This was a panco fried bhetki fish fry (2 pieces) with a bunch of potato wedges. The bhetki fish stuffing was quite thick, fresh and tasted amazing! I have not seen such good quality fish fry in any cafés recently, simply delicious 👌 4)Butter garlic prawns 🍤 - This one topped the chart! Soooooo good and tasty 😋 Still can't get over it! The quality of prawns served were very good, and the size were good too

Undoubtedly their food quality is one of the best (amongst the cafés in Salt Lake), staff was friendly too, definitely this should be a must visit...
