When the city thinks of Shawarma then obviously Shawarma Nation comes to our mind not only because of the nomenclature but mostly because of the gastronomical delight. Lebanese Cuisine has a lot to do with Shawarma and Shawarma basically means thin slice of meat which are stacked in a cone like structure and roasted slowly in a rotisserie which revolves slowly and cooks the meat in its own juice. Well to quench the desire to much on exclusive Middle Eastern Cuisine “Shawarma Nation” plays a pivotal role through its multiple outlets , wide range of menu , pocket friendly prices , lip smacking taste etc etc. Recently I got a chance to visit the Salt Lake outlet and I whole heartedly thank Shubhangi Biswas for the invitation. Location - Shop 3, DC Block, City Centre 1, Opposite Khosla Electronics, Sector 1, Salt Lake, Kolkata – 700064 Now let’s talk about the food that we tried –  Lebanese Chicken Wrap – If you are a wrap or a roll lover then you just cannot ignore the traditional Lebanese Dish. The wrap has loads of cheese, mayo, chicken in it and it is topped with olive and it looks so elegant. It’s a very classy recipe with oodles of flavor as it has sautéed ingredients which just melts into your mouth just as you take the first bite of it.

 Israeli Chicken Wrap – The chicken which is freshly cut from the revolving Shawarma and is further diced into fine pieces. It is tossed with loads of vegetables. The wrap base is then nicely covered with loads of sauce and mayo in it. The tossed chicken and vegetables are neatly placed and the Chef will give it a perfect shape to give it a mouth watering look. It’s a must try and we loved it in totality.

 Crispy Chicken Burger – Burgers are always more flavourful and delicious and yet again Crispy Chicken Burger proves that. It has a creamy sauce which coats the crispy chicken patty. The burger is quite tummy filling and you can surely much on it if you are hopping in Salt Lake for work or leisure. It will surely keep you full for quite some time. It’s so pleasing, creamy and colourful that the photograph of the burger will leave you drooling over it.

 Hummus Chicken – A yummy chicken preparation with a flavourful hummus in it. Its served with pita bread and is nicely decorated which will enhance your satisfaction level by many folds.

 Chicken Shawarma Rice Bowl – If you are looking for a quick lunch then this is your pick. The chicken from Shawarma is nicely diced and tossed and is mixed well with flavourful rice. Its served with a bit of salad. If you are in office and looking to order something for your luch. Then this dish is something which you can surely look out for.

 Falafel Rice Bowl – It’s a Vegetarian Delight. Its served with falafel and mild rice with a bit of salad. Once again a good option for lunch.

 Turkish Chicken Ablama Curry – Another variety of Lebanese Cuisine that we tried is the Turkish Chicken Ablama Curry. It is indeed one of the best picks for everyone visiting this place. The dish contains chicken curry and is accompanied by a flavourful rice. The ingredients and flavours accentuate quite well with each other, and we get a rich creamy, yet spicy & delicious feeling as soon as we gulp a portion of it.. For all of us, it’s a blockbuster dish at this food joint.

 Smoothies – There are various smoothies available like Kiwi, Mango, Orange and Strawberry. All of them are quite good and has a perfect balance of sweetness and flavour in it.

My love for shawarma is eternal and the culinary practices of Lebanon have now reached a worldwide mark, especially in Kolkata. one of the best and reputed Lebanese fusion chain situated in our city of joy. SHAWARMA NATION - a feast from middle East .

Shawarma Originated from the modern-day Turkey in the 18th or 19th century, shawarma, also spelled shawurma or shawerma, meaning “turning” in Arabic . Shawarma is made by alternately stacking strips of fat and pieces of seasoned meat on a vertical spit. Originally made of lamb or mutton but today's shawarma may also be chicken ,beef etc . Shawarma is one of the world's most popular street foods, especially in Egypt . Shawarma is a Lebanese cuisine . SHAWARMA NATION have many other outlets all over the city ,but they started their new outlet ,just before the lockdown near CC1 . yesterday we went to the salt lake (CC1) outlet . Situated just opposite of khosla electronics .

Let's come to the food - We tried - Lebanese chicken wrap - 140/- Chicken Shawarma rice bowl -170 /- Israeli chicken wrap - 160/- Hummus chicken -180/- Turkish chicken ablama curry - 160/- Crispy chicken burger - 140/- Falafel rice bowl - 160/- Mango smoothie , Orange smoothie, kiwi smoothie and strawberry smoothie. @100/- / per smoothie

🌯Lebanese chicken wrap - Feel the soul of Lebanon with this scrumptious wrap prepared with shawarma chicken with mixture of flavour some sauces ,mayo and veggies . The wrap was so delicious and a must try . 🌯Israeli chicken wrap - this is also a wrap but why it us known as Israeli?? Because of kosher law the Jews or Jewish people of Israel cannot eat dairy products and meat together ,Shawarma is often served with a yogurt sauce ,but that won't cut it kosher wise ,Thus ,shawarma in Israel usually skips yogurt and served with lots of hummus and tahini with veggies and chicken . This tastes more tastier than Lebanese chicken wrap according to us . 🍛Chicken Shawarma Rice Bowl - This is nothing but a delicious biryani flavour rice served with shawarma chicken and salad . This is a main course meal and the quantity was good , one plate is enough for a person . 🥘Turkish chicken ablama curry : This is something new to us , we tried this first time . The taste was so so good .It is served with some biryani flavour rice and two pieces of chicken curry .Ablama curry is nothing but an easiest chicken curry made with least ingredients without sacrificing tastiness ,very mild and not spicy at all . Must try ! 🥘Hummus chicken : Shawarma chicken served with yummy hummus is a must try and recommend at shawarma nation . A delicious dip or spread made from cooked and smashed chickpeas blended with tahini ,lemon juice and garlic served with shawarma chicken. We loved it so much . 🍲Moroccan Falafel rice bowl - The baked falafels served with a biryani flavour rice and salad . This a a vegan dish and costs only - 160 /- 🍔Crispy chicken burger : This is a juicy volume of chicken breast chunk with esoteric mayo . It was also great in taste and quantity . Costs only : 140 /- 🥤🥤🥤Smoothies : All the smoothies are fresh and thick in consistency. They are making the smoothies with freshly cut fruits and all the smoothies costs only 100 /- . They were maintaining all the safety...

As the weekend is here,Obviously after trying so many missed delicacies my pocket needs a comfort meal within a budget yet it should taste classy,The flavour of middle east is here obviously with so many options this time.

The culinary expertise this time is about Shawarma Nation,A very popular shawarma joint having outlets around the City.

The menu comprises from roll to wraps,salads to burgers,and now bowls to smoothies.

📍We went to try some of the items from the menu at their CC1 Outlet which is a 2 min walk from CC1. They are wearing masks and taking all the precautions during this period of time. This basically is a takeaway joint but I am suprised to reveal that they have kept 4 seater for us,they are sanitizing everything in regular intervals.

The food menu was about :

•Persian Grilled Chicken Shwarma Wrap •Irani Rice Bowl •Chicken Arayes Kofta •Falafel Rice Bowl •Turkish Shawarma Burger •Shish Submarine •Harissa Hummus •Smoothies

The persian chicken wrap was different from our regular shawarma wraps,the chicken filling had fried small chunks of chicken and it was wrapped with all the mayo,musturd sauce dips , veggies and samak powder (Priced at 150 /-)

The Irani Bowl had 3 layers in it,starting from a gravy underneath then putting down all the flavoured basmati rice and topped with smoked flavour of boneless chicken.

To my surprise,3 different bowls were totally different in taste and the topping and the gravy credentials were also different. The Kofta curry was extremely good . Topped with cashews makes it more tempting to have. (The pricing remains between 170-190 and is worth it )

Coming to my favorite and a gem which I will recommend it to each and eveyone, 📍Turkish Shawarma Burger : Hands down,This was the best burger I have had ever tasted in my life and looking at the filling and price it just makes your day. The shreded chicken filling was extremely good in quantity ,the spicy mayo sauce with other elements makes it the star of the show. (PRICED AT 130/- JUST)

Off trying out healthy options,Hummus is a must try. Loved the way they mixed it will the flavour of chilli flakes and sesame to make it a treat to us. Hummus is generally served with 2 pitas

Also the smoothies that we tried were Kiwi,Mango and strawberry .

The smoothies were just too good in terms of their consistency,priced at just 100 . You should definitely try your hands on this...
