Review of Grok brunch - A Forgettable Experience
First things first - the brunch is below okay. The variety of food offered is small and not exciting. There is an outdoor area where grills, some basic chaat, pizza and pasta is offered. Indoors, there is a small variety of salads, cheese, dim sums, sushi and Indian food.
The pros - I would have to think about that. If you like Indian desserts they have a decent variety. Everything is sweet beyond measure and it’s not entirely decadent. However, there is a good variety of desserts.
The whole truth - food options and portions isn’t nearly enough. The refills are very slow and they have to be reminded of it, the grill area is managed by incompetent staff who don’t know how to do a good grill and look lost, the chaat corner is managed by someone who is preparing big and small orders in a messy manner.
The restaurant won’t also let you know when it’s time for last orders. Maybe this isn’t a practice here but in many other hotels including other Hyatt properties, usually the server will take last orders before brunch ends.
Indian food was below okay. The meat was missing in the mutton biryani, the chicken curry was almost over and low in flavour and there were bones in the dish yet no effort was made to refill. The chicken pizza felt like a cheap Indian bread mix (and tastes Indian, not Italian). The cheese platter had three varieties of basic cheese with grapes and biscuit. The biscuit for cheese was over within 5 mins of service beginning and not refilled during the course of the brunch.
Main course - There was ONE curry dish with chicken ONE biryani with mutton but the mutton was missing and didn’t get replenished until they were asked to numerous times. One rice - dry - not soft and fluffy One dal 3 veg items - didn’t try these. Certainly not enough to call it a brunch! The food was placed in dishes way below a respectable level of portion required for a person to dig jn.
The grills were in the outdoor area and below par - the person cooking it was unsure and didn’t follow standard cutlery protocol while using them for beef and pork. Needless to add the grills were basically rubbery.
Pizza/Pasta - pepperoni was okay and chicken pizza was awful. Pasta was just about edible. It could be called many things but certainly not Italian.
Bar Area - as slow as it could be. Rohit served us and he was good. Grateful that they had something we could choose to drink because this kept us going because one of the beverages being offered had changed for this brunch. The mocktails were a mish mash of colors and poor flavours so we settled for a cranberry juice with lemon to reduce the sweetness.
Atmostphere - it’s vibrant however very warm indoors too. The air conditioner doesn’t do the job of keeping it cool well because there are 3 access points so the doors are open to let the warm air in.
Goa offers many brunch options at the same or slightly higher price range with a much better experience and finer beverage list. Even Grok has increased its prices and reduced its offering. F&B really needs to step up at this establishment, they are not diligent at all. Please don’t be fooled by the colorful umbrellas outdoors. That’s the only vibrancy...
Read moreI ll be honest here , the reason I gave it a three stars is because of exceptional service by Hyatt Team. This was my Valentine’s Day experience and it goes as follows:
I called up to enquire about the set menu for the evening, the phone was picked within few rings and the caller on phone explained it very well. I ended up booking thinking it will be nice quiet evening as per our conversation.
Upon arriving , parking was not an issue , they have nice covered parking. As I reached the place , it was way too loud (the music ) and the setup was something I wasn’t happy with. So the conversation was struggling. Anyways when the mocktails came , they were not so good , way too basic and I expected something better. The names were complicated and the elements in the cocktail were not going well together.
About food it wasn’t good either , but we do got freedom to order ala cart for the courses we didn’t like so that was a good part. But again it was not the best when it comes to the taste. We spent more than 6k for a couple and expected a better quality of food which was not the case and is tremendously disappointing. Also ambience was a big thumbs down.
Verdict: Something I wasn’t looking forward too and being a Hyatt I was really expecting a better experience. Although kindness of servers and staff is...
Read moreNothing like a leisurely brunch to bring in Sunday with a pleasing collection of all things delicious at Hyatt centric. If you are planning to head out for lunch in Goa on a Sunday the brunch option here is one I would recommend. Some of my favorites from the brunch are the Rawa dosa accompanied with mutton curry, Sushi’s, salads and the Chaat options ( I could actually add more to the list here ). They have a massive array of dishes available for you from South Indian food to North Indian, from asian delights to Lebanese must-haves. I would advise you to get here early, indulge in the best of culinary delights and then spend the rest of the time playing tennis, football or badminton. Yes, you are given access to their outdoor play area if you are here for the Brunch ( Do not miss out on it). From the Spaghetti, Sushi’s, Rava dosa with mutton curry, Biryani, Avocado & Tender coconut salad, Crab and melon salad to white chocolate berry tart - A beautiful Sunday on all fronts.
Sundays should be sun-kissed, immersed in delicious food and dusted in sugar. What better way to do it than to visit GROK for their immersive...
