Undoubtedly the location and venue are breath takingly beautiful thanks to serene views of Manali. But honestly our visit was a complete disaster Quality of food / portion / pricing and worst to all was service. To quote few: (1) Cold coffee was served with 80% froth and 20% of coffee which was like water ... Had to ask to replace (2) Penne arabiata had the blend taste and was served cold. On name of veggies they just dumped a lot of zuccini (3) Lemon soda was served cold but as per the request they missed adding ice chunks to it. ( It was specially requested to add ice cubes) (4) Lasagne was the complete turn off. Over loaded with cheese and the pasta sheets were over cooked and became soggy and it was messy affair. (5) Not once did the service personal come to check if food was good or are we enjoying the meals or not. They just dumped the food on table and left without even offering to serve (6) We almost waited for 12 to 14 minutes for them to realise that we are done eating and they should clear the tables. After the wait the service person picked up few dishes and vanished again for a long gap. And the restuarant had only two tables occupied out of ten so they were not even busy.... (7) Someone who has ordered a full soup to main course meal would not have minded trying the desert. But no one bothered to offer or ask. (8) Tired of waiting I had to step inside to find the guy for making payments. No greetings or thanking note were extended. He dumped the change on the table. (9) We left with the energy that why the hell we came here to spoil our dates, mood and taste buds .... Sincere suggestion if they truly wish to maintain the high name and ranking they better work on the service and quality of food and taste.

Il Forno Cafe is a hidden gem nestled in the serene landscapes of Manāli, offering not just great food but an incredible experience. From the moment you step in, the warm ambiance combined with the breathtaking view of the mountains sets the perfect mood for a memorable meal. The menu features a delightful range of Italian dishes, from wood-fired pizzas to homemade pasta, each prepared with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The authenticity of flavors is exceptional, and you can tell that each dish is crafted with care. Their pizza is a must-try – perfectly crisp and topped with rich, fresh ingredients. Pair it with a glass of their house wine, and you’re in for a treat! The staff at Il Forno are incredibly friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home. They’re knowledgeable about the menu and always happy to offer recommendations. It’s evident that they take pride in providing a top-notch experience. Il Forno is perfect for anyone looking to escape the usual touristy spots and enjoy a relaxed meal with a view. Whether you’re in Manāli for a weekend getaway or a longer stay, Il Forno Cafe is a must-visit. Highly recommended for those seeking delicious food in a picturesque setting!

Heard about this place on 'Highway on my plate' and decided to try it, only because I am crazy for pizzas. And this place was an absolute delight. Right from the moment I entered this place, taking in the surroundings of beautiful apple and plum trees, to sitting across this breathtaking view. IL Forno, is set in a beautiful vintage property lines with colourful plants and the best seating arrangement. The staff is perfect just like the place. I ordered for a special veg pizza (with eggplant in it) and special veg lasagna (red sauce), and fresh plum juice. At first, I was skeptical of eggplant in my pizza, but the moment I had a bite, I could taste everything the toppings, fresh cheese, and the fragrance of the wood fire. Lasagna was crunchy on the top and gooey on the inside. The plum juice was the perfect drink, fresh, and natural. So if you are in Manali and a pizza person, this is a must visit place.

This turned out to be that one uplifting experience that becomes the highlight of the trip and makes it worth your while to come to a place like Manali. The salad with pesto, the pizza, the pasta in tomato sauce and the fruit juices all turned out to be a delight. The restaurant is done in stone and wood has an old world charm to it, your tables adorn cute wild flower arrangements and the view is Serene and pleasing. Add to it the lovely music they play which even a non Western music guy like me loved too. The restaurant is in the corner of a large plot so has ample parking area. The staff (Sunil) is polite and served us well. The kids loved the food so much that they wanted me to meet the chef and tip him separately. Lalchand, the chef turned out to be an extremely simple person, he seemed very surprised and was finding it hard to respond to our appreciation. We were told he learnt his skills from Italians who...
