Who doesn’t love chicken wings? They are the perfect bar food, versatile and importantly, very handy to hog on. You can order hot and spicy or mild wings. Chicken wings are meant to be eaten with your hands and an ice, cold beer helps to wash them down. There are countless restaurants across the country doing business on chicken wings. It is hard to realize that chicken wings had their inception for a little more than fifty years now and that they were originally considered a throw-away part of the chicken. That is until a happy accident led to the creation of one of America’s favourite bar food. Neither the origin nor the food item itself has anything to do with actual buffalo, nor American Bison which many people call Buffalo even though they are not. Rather, this tasty item originated in Buffalo, New York, with most food historians indicating buffalo wings probably were first served in the Anchor Bar there. This myth says that Teressa Bellissimo, proprietor of the Anchor Bar in Buffalo, NY, who, in 1964, first thought of serving chicken wings to its patrons. She decided to deep-fry the naked wings for her son's impromptu midnight snack, dress them in a mixture of vinegar and butter, and serve them with sticks of celery and a rich blue cheese dressing which became an instant hit among the crowd. However, this story has many variations to it. To take the concept ahead, in the year 1982, Jim Disbrow and Scott Lowery, out of sheer hunger were craving wings, wherein they either had to drive to Buffalo from Ohio or open a Wings eatery close to home. Eventually, they chose the latter option & hence the inception of BWW, which is an ultimate place to hang out with your friends, watch sports, drink beer and hog on some wings. Since then, BWW has managed to come up with multiple franchises across the globe.
We visited one fine evening at the Jubilee Hills outlet, which has a welcoming atmosphere with a front-row seat for every sports buff out there. Starting off with the food, Popcorn Shrimp, Onion Rings & Fish n Chips hit our table. While the mouth-popping shrimps are really addictive as it was served with a mayo dip, flavorful and delicious, Onion rings had the crisp texture of crumb-fried onions, absolutely spot-on to pair up with ranch dressing. Even the Fish n Chips was quite good, the fillets were seasoned well with crumb coated deep fried till the perfect crispness, paired well with the Lemon Garlic dressing. Next up was Chicken pizza & Peri-peri grilled prawns, these spicy & luscious prawns pieces which are packed with flavours, a few beers and good friends will undoubtedly make a good combo. A new entrant to their menu being Boneless Wings, again this one was a crowd favourite as the sauce coated was absolutely lip-smacking; recommended from the menu. Coming to the Wings, we took 3 variations - Asian Zing, Thai curry & Mango Habanero, whilst the Asian zing has minute traces of chilly pepper with soy and ginger sauce, the Manago Habanero surely is something to look forward to, a well-balanced sauce of sweet & chilly flavour wherein the aftereffect will surely call for a beer to wash it down. The Thai curry was another one which has traces of chillies, however considerably on a lower level blended with other spices making it a variant which can be savoured by all. Lastly, basil sauce coated fish fillet served with flavoured rice made it to the table to ease our palate after having so much of burn; another recommended pick. To round off the fare, we got some Redbulls, brownie with ice-cream & Dessert Nachos, a cinnamon based tortilla topped with vanilla ice-cream, cheesecake bites & drizzled with caramel sauce. Buffalo wings have witnessed a huge surge in popularity over time, including becoming a “traditional” snack to eat while watching your fav sport, be it Football or Cricket, and if you love sports, beer & wings, BWW is your...

Buffalo Wild Wings is an American sports bar which has come up with its first outlet in India at Hyderabad. Was here for a food tasting session. The moment I entered the place I could see different sports types of equipment and screens all over. Different sports channels were being played on different screens. The highlight was humongous screens placed above the bar counter. There were play stations as well having games installed like Takken, Fifa, etc and can be played at no extra cost. The first floor is even more interesting, it’s divided into segments and somewhat like personal dining areas. Beautiful sofas and screens for games and Xbox. The setup and ambiance would impress any sports lover. Coming to the food, the menu is not very elaborate but is sufficient for a sports bar. So we started with the #BuffaloChickenWings which is the specialty here. There are options of sauces which starts from #Smilin’ (sweet) sauces like #Teriyaki, #BourbonHoneyMustard and goes up to #Screamin’ levels with #Wild, #Blazin sauces. Customers are allowed to taste and choose their sauces as per their preference. We tried almost all the levels and the sauces were really good be it the Smilin’, Sizzlin’ or Blazin’. The blazin sauces are hot but not insane I had like four pieces of blazin and was enjoying the bomb blasts in my mouth. Then we tried #Onion Rings, crisp and juicy rings served with a dip, perfect. #JalapeñoPepperBites, gooey oozing cheesy goodness with a mild kick of Jalapeños, loved it. #VeggiePizza #BuffaloPizza were thin crust pizzas with a generous amount of good quality 🧀 cheese, were kind of average in taste. Then we tried some burgers 🍔 #BigJackDaddyBurger, this was huge, two lamb patties, chicken patty, onion rings, jalapeños and what not, a meal in itself! #BuffaloRanchChickenBurger, breaded fried chicken fillet burger with cheese and jalapeños, nice! #ChickenWrap, juicy chicken along with veggies and sauces wrapped in a tortilla. Now it was time to try some local flavors. #BasilGrilledFish, basil seasoned grilled fish nicely cooked served with fries and salsa. #RiceBowl with Chicken Drumstick, Curry, and Raita. Long grain rice with the hint of Hyderabadi flavors for people who need to have grains to satisfy their hunger. Along with these we were sipping some great lemonades, #Yuzu #Strawberry #Citrus #Ginger #BlackCurrent. All the mocktails were perfectly sweet and mild in flavors, the way I like. Then came the desserts #CheesecakeBites, was pretty new for me, cheesecakes fried in crumbs somewhat like fried IceCream. #HoneymoonDessert, tapioca pudding with basil seeds mango puree and almond flakes, very mildly sweet, a great dessert for tapioca lovers. #DessertNachos, huge nachos topped with 2-3 scoops of IceCream, cheesecake bites served with sides of caramel and chocolate sauce. Currently, they don’t have the liquor license so serving liquor only when they are getting the daily liquor license. The permanent license is in the process and will be there soon. Overall the place has got a very good ambiance with good food. The pricing is on a higher side but it all depends on an individual what he/she wants from the place. A must visit for someone looking out for a good sports bar to have a fun time with friends.

As a longtime Buffalo Wild Wings fan—someone who spent over two years in the US frequenting their outlets weekly—I’ve always had a soft spot for the brand. Back then, a $22 bill bought me more joy than most elaborate dinners ever could. I don’t drink, but those wings? They were my comfort ritual.
When BWW opened in Hyderabad, I made the trip from Chennai just to relive that experience. My 2018 visit was memorable but flawed: the ambience and food were impressively faithful to the US outlets, but the pricing felt steep. ₹1750 for two people (one vegetarian) was hard to justify, and the automatic 10% service charge didn’t sit well—especially in an Indian context.
Fast forward to 2025, and I recently revisited with a gang of six, drawn by their Tuesday 50% off on wings. And this time, the experience felt substantially better. We ordered 80 wings, mozzarella sticks, and jalapeño poppers. The boneless wings were excellent—crispy, juicy, and generously sauced. Traditional wings tasted good but were noticeably undersized. Loaded nachos were underwhelming, especially without sour cream.
Despite 80% of the tables being vacant, service was slow. But here’s the pleasant surprise: they no longer include a 10% service charge by default. And even with the lag, the staff made us feel they’d earned a tip. I left ₹200 on a ₹6,200 bill—easily worth it, and a huge shift from my 2018 experience. That said, we visited on a 50% off day; without the discount, the bill would’ve touched ₹9,000, which feels excessive for what’s essentially a wings-and-sides meal.
In summary: Food: Boneless wings are the highlight. Traditional wings good but undersized. Sides are mixed. Ambience: Still captures the US vibe. Great for groups. Service: Friendly, slow, but earned their tip. Pricing: Regular menu is overpriced. Tuesday offers make it worthwhile. Extras: Console games and live sports add to the hangout appeal. Tip Policy: No auto-charge now. You tip if you feel it’s deserved—and this time, it was.
If you’re a BWW fan like me, go on a Tuesday, bring your crew, and stick to the boneless wings. You’ll leave happy—and your wallet won’t...
