Tamil Nadu is famous for its deep belief that serving food to others is a service to humanity, as is common in many regions of India. The region has a rich cuisine involving both traditional vegetarians, as well as non-vegetarian dishes. Over time, each area inhabited by Tamils has developed its own distinct variant of the common dishes. @pondyparottas , a multi-cuisine restaurant in Hyderabad, firmly believes in getting the taste profile of authentic Tamil Nadu cuisine right to its roots. We recently visited their outlet situated near to Hitex junction which has colorful interiors with a bicycle-themed décor and ample space with comfortable seating areas. We started with Chicken Kalakki, a gravy version of a normal omlette stuffed with gravy of chicken korma with black pepper and garnished with coriander. Next to the appetizers, we had Pichu Potta Kozhi & Mutton Kal Pepper fry, Pichu Potta Kozhi is shredded chicken chunks tossed with ground pepper powder & ghee, this was prepared really well with a fine balance of spices & something to munch on with some beverages. Mutton Kal Pepper fry had a good pungency from black peppercorns that compliments it really well with mutton and the coconut oil gives in a rich flavor to the dish, even a great appetizer to order at this place. From the mains, Ambur Mutton Biryani & Nool Parotta with Thengapal Chicken Salna were ordered in, Thengapal Chicken Salna had tender pieces of chicken cooked in a coconut, fennel seed masala giving it a unique taste paired with perfectly cooked flaky parottas, even the Ambur Biryani really exceeded our expectations, prepared with Jeeraga Samba rice, served with a brinjal curry and Cucumber Raitha, which made the dish a delightful feast. Lastly, we had Maharaja Parotta, a dish made up using Parotta, chicken, coconut milk Salna, egg white & yolk, ghee, fried onion & much more which is surely a dish you shouldn't miss out on from their Menu to excite...

Pondy Parottas Review
The ambience was great, especially the Pondicherry map mural made of electronic components. Overall it had the essence of the yellow walls of the french colony .
Food: I lived in Pondicherry for almost 3 years, and believe me the food at Pondy Parottas is truly authentic.
The Mutton Bone Soup: It tasted very much similar as a popular soup stall opposite to Pondy railway station.
Fun Fact: While interacting with the sweetest owner, he mentioned that, long ago his wife was craving for Pondy style soup which he couldn't find it in Hyd. He revealed that he introduced this soup to surprise her. Well if this isn't couple goals, then what.
Chicken Egg Kottu Parotta: Kottu Parotta was my go to during pondy days. Perfect crispiness, lots of chicken, very authentic taste. This should be your must try from their menu.
Ambur Chicken Biryani: The biryani was very flavourful and again similar to what you find in Pondy. But I'm not sure if they used Seeraga Samba rice or normal local rice for the preparation. Its very different from Hyderabadi Biryani so no comparison there, but it was a great one.
Note: It smelled so heavenly that I forgot to click picture.
We also ordered Drums of Heaven which was perfect.
Special Mention: While we were about to leave the restaurant, I noticed the owner and wanted to compliment him for the great food, service and ambience. While we got into talking and sharing Pondy stories, he offered us a complimentary filter coffee. It was the perfect end to the hearty meal. Will recommend the coffee to all the coffee lovers: experience the perfect tamil style filter Kaapi.
Another thoughtful gesture which won my heart was the small ice cream stick toys they have made to give it to the children who visit. Such small thoughtful gesture is what makes a restaurant more than food but...
Read morePondy parottas is one of the regional cuisine restaurant that serves authentic tamil cuisine. This restaurant has two outlets. One in kukatpally and one in kothaguda. I visited their kothaguda branch recently to try out some of their food.
To begin with the evening, I had their curry leaf soup, crab soup, big Burmese bowl and mutton bone soup. Personally speaking, I feel that a bit of work needs to be put up in their soup section. The positive dish of the evening was their mutton bone soup which had a mild seasoning and the broth overall tasted yum. Rest of things were slightly over salty.
For appetizers, I had their Tamil nadu prawn 65, Master egg kalaki, Nethili fish fry and Chicken 65. The prawn 65 was amazing. I personally found it to be the dish of the evening. The prawns were crispy fried and had a yummy crunch to it. Next up, their kalaki was a bit over done from my perspective. I hope they would work upon that. Nethili fish fry and Chicken 65 were also decently prepared.
For mains, I tried out their Chicken egg kothu parotta, Chicken ceylone parotta and Ambur chicken biryani. Starting with their chicken egg kothu parotta, it was quite tasty. The parotta was well mixed with spices, chicken and egg in adequate proportions. Must try. Next up, the chicken ceylone parotta was also well made. Last but not the least, their Ambur chicken biryani was too good. It was prepared using short grain rice that imparted a beautiful texture to the dish. Mildly flavoured with fresh spices, this one can be worth trying.
All in all, my only recommendation to this place would be to maintain the salt levels in few of...
